Delivery dates (GTR’s)
Hey all, was wondering if in recent months anyone in North America (Canada as well, since I live there) had had any issues with their orders arriving late from the factory. My dealership was certain that the car would honour its deadline which, was April 25, but as of late, they said the car was still in production. They exchanged a few emails with factory and still haven’t received a concrete answer on the matter yet. I hope it won’t be such a long wait 😒

I'm pretty sure that almost everyone has had late arrivals on their orders. Half this board is full of people complaining (rightfully so) about their late orders. I personally cancelled the order on my GTR because it was over 6 months late from the "promised" date and would be arriving about the time I usually put my GTS away for the winter.

That really blows, my dealer told me that the reason they were late before was because they didn’t pass emissions or they were being held back when they launched but the “problem” is fixed. I hope it won’t be a long wait because I don’t really feel like waiting months, I’m in Canada, and it’s super seasonal over here. 💀

My GTR moved to completed status yesterday and was ordered (with an available allocation) in December. Scheduled production start date was 4/10, so they were pretty much bang on.

There then was a slight delay on certain cars due to a seat belt latch issue; again I think that’s resolved.
At this point in time the GTR is a very low production vehicle and I’m sure that the production dates at the factory are limited.
Even though I didn’t order my car I feel fortunate that it was built in October 2017 and I took delivery on 18th November.

The ‘hold’ at the VPC last summer was EPA related. Thanks Volkswagen! That reason has been resolved a long time ago.

What’s important now is If you still want your 2018 GTR what discount is your dealer offering.
2018 production has shut down and they are now starting to tool up for 2019 production.
Deliveries should start hitting the US in late August—September.
On Cargurus there are about 52 new GTR’s at dealers that I am sure can be had for a great deals. Especially those (15 or so) that are green....
Used GTR’s number about 24 nationally in a variety of colors with mileage under 2,000 and most under 500-1,000.
Current asking prices compared to MSRP are 5%-15% under.

. . . . and the now famous front spoiler failure which delayed initial launch cars another 14 days.

Yup holds are usually emissions and safety ratings.. Need epa ratings to make Maroney labels before cars are sent to dealers. Sometimes a part.. Or Port holds for software updates..
We have sold 4 gtrs so far.. No markups.. All in and out.. sold and gone withing 48hours.. (sold before they they ever arrived). My last one will be here in about a month...sold already.
I didn't even have enough orders to fill our pipeline (sorry bish)..
Wont start getting 19s until late summer, early fall.
If a dealer has a 18 sitting on a lot, they won't give to me... I've tried hard lol.

thanks for your replies all, and Bish, so you’re saying brand new GTR’s are already taking 15% depreciation hits !!!!? Maybe I should just get back into an S63 coupe if it’s going to depreciate at the same rate if my car ends up months late. Not that I want to, I’m bored owning s63’s... will b hoping for th best. My dealership lent me a car since November at no cost, so asking for another deal on the car probably won’t be easy

I feel like if it’s going to start getting late and the depreciation will match one of an S63s coupe’s I’ll probably say f it and not get the GTR. How much depreciation do you think will hit the 2018?

AMG Ghost, where in Canada are you? I'm in Edmonton, I ordered my GTR mid November and it is supposed to be here before the end of April.
