Car accidentally rolled forward when hit start button instead of park..
When parking has anyone accidentally hit the start/off button instead of the park button and unknowingly rolled forward?
when I first bought my GT s I parallel parked by backing up a hill into a spot. There was a Dodge Ram pickup truck a few feet in front in the next spot. I did the above mistake and just about rolled into the trailer hitch on the truck. My friend yelled you’re rolling and I hit the brake just in time and didn’t crash. Then I learned this was possible to do. I had stopped and grabbed my phone to dial up pay parking and that’s why I was unaware, besides not knowing the car is in neutral when like this.
‘It would have been nice if the sales rep had told me this. I had no idea. My friend saved me a ton of grief!

In my car the parking brake applies itself when I press the ‘Engine Start/Off’ button after it’s been running even without the door being opened. In other words: I come to a halt; hit ‘P’ next to the gear lever; press ‘Engine Off’, and I hear the parking brake engage. This without opening the door. Btw, if I open the driver’s door with the engine running, the parking brake is engaged automatically.

I had no idea the car is in neutral if stop and turn off car while in drive (by forgetting to hit the P park button)
ya, crazy eh! I came so close to smashing into the tow hitch/bumper of the truck as I rolled down the slope. It would've been at least 10k+? damage to my brand new car. Would've really sucked

consider the situation if the engine stops whilst driving ...and the transmission tried to engage park :-o ...messy.

I've made the mistake of turning off the car first in my garage and although flat the car creeps forward a little. I make a point of pressing the P button now.
