Bought an AMG GT S and Hit a Raccoon Within 48 Hours

So a week ago, I bought a '16 AMG GT S with 6k miles and managed to hit a raccoon within the first 48 hours. It was a bittersweet weekend, but all in all it could have been far worse and I'm simply excited to have the new car back on the road.

At first I was sickened with anger, but in the end it's a material thing and considering the circumstances it could have been far worse. I'll take this first world problem over infinite other worse problems out there. And I didn't do it myself. A friend who is very resourceful helped tremendously; it wouldn't have gone so smoothly without him.

True that and glad to hear your back on the road in style.

You bounced back well. I suspect the end result was not as good for the raccoon.

Good attitude, your well-being is more important than damage to the car and it looks like it was fixed nicely.

Sadly, no. He rides with me in spirit, though.

I don't know how many years it's taken me to learn that lesson, but it's been many. The day I stop learning is the day I die.

I feel for you. Raccoons are tough criters, as I learned when my neighbor's dogs hamstrung one on my property and I tried to put it out of its misery. I shot the thing in the head five times and still had to finish it off with a shovel handle.

Luckilly I have never hit one in a car. Back in the 1970's I drove across Death Valley at night in a 67' Jag XKE and hit multiple jack rabbits, but cars were still made of metal back then so the damage was minimal. For real excitement try Africa, where the donkeys like to sleep on the asphalt because it is still warm at night in the desert.

The raccoon never came in contact with metal on this car haha. You're right, it's completely different now. And I'll certainly refrain from driving across Death Valley now that I know that!
