Does anyone have the Merced’s Wheel protection plan ? I have the plan and had forgotten about it.
As luck with have it, I hit a curb and got a scraped rim. It’s predominantly in the polished rim portion.
Can i I go to any wheel shop and get it fixed or do I need to bring it to Mercedes? I would just bring it to my detail shop and have them do it but it’s already paid for in the plan.
I would sand sand it down myself but a couple of the matte spokes have minute scratches and would need to be addressed. Paint match and clear coat? Starting to sound like lots of work for me.
You have to contact the company that owns the plan. I have it and I read through mine to verify if non polished wheels were covered seems some policies dont cover them... In mine it states to contact them first and they tell you where to go to get it repaired.
My my policy has a small deductible, but check yours and make sure you follow there policy. My scratched wheel needs to be completely redone, but I haven’t made claim yet.
Depending on the plan you got, the damage you described might not be covered. Some plans do not cover cosmetic damage. You will need to go to your dealer to make the claim.
My detailing shop quoted me $395 to fix and refinish the wheel. Is that reasonable ?
In general, that's about twice what I would expect an average consumer to pay, and is about 3x the price someone with a connection would pay.
A variable to this is the vehicle & wheel. I assume it's an AMG GT; if true, sure can be a little more expensive - but still sounds a little high to me.

When I had my GTS and my old SL550 I used the Mercedes plan described on their web site and negotiated as part of the sales process. I wanted that package as I'd beat up wheels before. I used it a couple of times for curb damage - had perfect success and the repairs cost me nothing.
$395 is way too expensive. Should be one hour job and $150 with Long Island tax, wheel repair specialists can fix rim back to normal.

I didnt think it would take that long. The whole Xpel and ceramic coating took that long.
I may just just drop it off to Mercedes under the wheel policy and have them take care of it and bill the insurance directly for what ever they see fit . I’m assuming they will out source it to local shops.

good idea. They will turn it around in a day if you setup an appointment.
I had the tire and wheel coverage through MB and scraped the rim on my C63 S. Dropped the car off at my Dealer and picked it up the next day - no deductible. Looked good as new. End of story.

My wheels are nano coated. I guess I’ll have to get it put back on after the paint cures if they need to refinish the wheel
Does that nano coating help on the brake dust a lot? My GTR wheels are hard to clean because the spokes are concave on each side and it makes it more difficult and time consuming to clean. Easiest wheels I ever had to clean were on my C63 S. They were a breeze to wipe off the brake dust.

for me it worked for about 6 months then dust started sticking earlier. Now it’s a brown s hitt show after 3 days.

i had the same experience a couple of months ago, end of story. The plan coverage is worth it!
