Hi rt7085, I’m facing the same issue where my transmission is needing a replacement due to the leak from that campaign. Was wondering if they replaced it for you u under warranty. Thanks

I did not get my transmission replaced only the transaxle. But any issues with the tranny should be covered by Mercedes. Just call MB with your VIN and confirm.

No. It does not. But the work is guaranteed for a period of time after the completion date, if something was not done right. I believe that is 3 months, but you ought to check with MB. Call them.

Transaxle/transmission is the same thing on this car, it's referred to as a transaxle because it also contains the rear differential in this application, like a front wheel drive car would.
The repair under the factory warranty carries no warranty beyond the normal 4/50k warranty. Say it was replaced after 47 months and at 48k miles, you have another month or 2k miles, and that's it. Repairs outside of warranty are usually 1 year parts and labor, but in warranty repairs are just to the end of the remaining warranty period.

Good afternoon. I have the same problem with the gearbox, the oil flows from this hole, which is indicated in the recall company. But Mercedes in Russia tells me that my VIN does not pass through a revocable company(((Can you tell me what to do in this case? My what’s up number +7-902-923-28-32

As far as I know, none of the recalls apply to any market outside of the USA or North America at best, I know Canada doesn't even get the same system as USA does with regards to recalls and warranty extensions. If your local dealer can't find it, it probably doesn't apply to your market. All of our recalls are managed by a US entity, the NHSTA, so they apply to our market only, they don't come from Germany and they aren't global.

I am not sure what applies in what country but I can tell you this much: MB techs are now in fact allowed to work on these Getrag's. Mine (2016 GTS/16000 miles) is currently (been 31 days as of now) undergoing a re-assembly of the transmission after replacement of the hydraulic clutches. Was initially told they would replace it and then Germany got involved along with not 1 but 2 different MB area managers. There was a holdup awaiting seals but then it was decided to keep the original seals. If you don't make progress contact Customer Care. Good luck.

Most GTS gearbox leaks come from the main seal. I tried to purchase this seal at mercedes dealer but they don't sell it. Unfortunately the GTS, the 458 and SLS share the same gearbox. I end up purchasing the full set of seals for the gearbox for 3 k USD and change it outside the dealership.
hope this is helpful

Replacement transmission leaking
Hi all! So I just noticed that the rear transmission is seeping a ton of oil (a bit shocked it hasn't left puddles yet but looks like it will soon). I'm at ~30k miles and the transmission was replaced at ~17k miles back in 2018. Car is a 2016 AMG GTS. Has anybody here experienced them failing/leaking a second time? I know it's hard to tell whether the replacements were truly new or remanufactured so just curious on how folks are fairing after getting their transmissions replaced. It looks like the warranty is good until February 2024 so this is cutting it a bit close but will be within the window - will look to get it checked out soon but wanted to check in here first.

Update on leak from second/replacement transmission
So I finally got the car on a lift and was able to take a look at the leak. Context: My transmission was previously replaced under the service campaign that is referenced throughout this thread.
Good news: It is not coming from the ventilation bore which tells me the radial shaft seal did not, again, become misaligned. Which by the way, Mercedes-Benz will not honor any work on after 2 years have passed as the Service Campaign is considered "executed" once the tranny has been replaced once. The replacement tranny has a 2-year warranty on it. Once that expires, you are SOL.
Bad news: My guess is that since my vehicle is on its 2nd transmission the replacement was done improperly as there is a leak coming from the top of the transmission. It's really hard to see even with sticking a mirror up there and trying various angles but my best guess is that it's coming from one of the electrical connectors. An alternative guess is that the transmission was overfilled upon installation.
What are your thoughts? Attaching some photos of how the transmission looks. You can tell not much has been leaking but it's enough to have slowly seeped into some of my underbody panels - but it is not enough to leave any drops on the ground where it is parked.
Taken from driver-side standing underneath driver-side muffler.
Taken from passenger-side standing underneath midpoint of car.
Taken from standing right under reverse lights.

@Acta_Non_Verba is what I’m experiencing here in my photos a sign of a previous overfill after the dealer replaced the tranny? Figured you may know best given the superb write up you had on changing the DCT/Diff oils.
