My wife was going to do that but there were no convertibles at our dealership. My preference would be the MB just on looks alone.

It is striking just how much better the AMG looks, even with the red soft top. I have never minded the looks of the F-type and love the sound but that thing is downright ugly.

Here is a 2016 comparo with the GTS coupe and many of the attributes still hold true...

Jag looks clunky. GT looks sleek.

On our short list of cars to buy when we brought the GTC was a F type SVR convertible. Both cars are awesome but two big things really sold me on the GTC. I watched a video on youtube where the gts (if I recall) was beating the svr over and over again on a road course. Mind you the svr has all wheel drive and more power! Point is I think the GT has far newer technology.

The second reason that swayed me was when you open the hood on the SVR there is the supercharger clear to see. Problem is it is one of the strangest looking superchargers you could ever imagine and DOES NOT make the engine look good. Attached is a pic of the engine. IF you like that then great.........Strangely you can actually see four black ball and socket standoffs that a cover would attach to but on this car there is NO cover. Strange they put those standoffs on there for no reason.

I remember seeing some videos on YouTube matching both cars, and while they compete in a similar price point, the Jag loses in most things. The interior is dated, the sound feels "forced" and it doesn't have the road presence of the GTC. The minus point for the GT-line is the infotainment screen, it does look like a mini iPad attached to the dashboard.
Even in the pictures you attached, the wing on the Jag looks like it was a last thought addition, while the GTC has a concise design. At a quick glance, the profile of the Jag almost looks like a fancy Miata, and that's not good!

Agreed. At first glance to me, it looks like a Japanese car with an after market aero kit on it. Like something from one of the earlier "Fast and Furious" movies. Wing looks like they ordered it from JC Whitney - lol.

I had one, it is on my 10 worst cars I have ever owned list. Terrible, lifeless, numb steering feel, fake noise, it is way too heavy, does not handle that well, and the blind spots (I had a coupe) are really bad. I drove it for 800 miles, then gave it to my girlfriend, she gave it back told me that it looks good but that's about it. She ended up with a 718 Cayman S.

Guess I'm not the only one.

Here in SoCal when a I see a Jag convertible in the distance it's usually with the top down and inevitably, I think it's a Miata, although the Miata is a much cleaner design and terrific as a modern-day MGB or TR6 or Datsun 2000. I think the AMG GT/GTC roadsters look great! The Jag F-Types especially the SVRs are nowhere near the original XK cars.

I went by to say hello to the folks (and visit my car in storage there) at Algar Ferrari, and I saw this. I could not resist and I bought it on the spot (my 4th Maserati), it is a 2013 MC version, with every option the car had in that year. Original stick was over 160K and it is in like new condition, they sold it to me for mid 40's. I would rather have this old dinosaur than the F type any day. Already have things on the way to enhance it. The sound this thing makes is just amazing, and unlike the F type, it is real.

Congrats, nice looking car and what a bargain! Very few cars sound like a Maserati, I just wish they weren't so lazy with bringing out a new model, it's been ages... and calling facelift a new model doesn't count. I agree, 2013 Maserati GT MC > F Type.

now owning both, I didnt have an SVR but an R with ceramics.........AMG > Jag and it ain't close lol

The AMG being under powered is way faster and I'm comparing my GTS not a GT C. They look better, better fit an finish, better sound IMO. Just a better car all around honestly. The only thing I liked about the Jag more is the comfort...

When I was shopping for cars, the AMG GTS, Jaguar F-type, and Porsche were on the short-list. The folks at the local Jaguar dealership in Monterey/SandCity would not even acknowledge my presence, though I was in the dealership and inside of the car inside the showroom. Bye. AMG purchase made that much easier. And in retrospect, the AMG was indeed the better decision.
