Were you able to configure the '446 touchpad' option? My dealer said that was not available on the Canadian model.

We didn't have such an option list. Mine was already ordered by the dealer so I had to take what was ordered, luckily, I liked the spec

On a side note, I have been given the 1 allocation spot my dealer has for the upcoming black series due as a 2021 model. No real details yet but once I have the call to build it, I will post the details.

Keep the Distronic; it’s fantastic on the highway.

Change the interior colour to Yellow stitching and Yellow seat belts. Looks so much better than the Silver.

Add the top-of-the-line Burmester stereo. I have the ‘mid-line’ version in my GT R and it’s awful.

I like yellow but on the exterior. Yellow accents in a grey car with black interior is gimmicky and almost tacky. Silver is better to match the matte CF and grey exterior

I think contrast is good, especially having seen the exact interior he is describing, it's hawt.

Honest question. Why is the customer not configuring the car instead of the dealer? Is this the norm for Mercedes allocations( unlike Porsche, etc)?

+1 change the interior to yellow contrast stitching. The silver looks generic and does not look the quality you pay for. The silver inserts on the seats look absolutely awful. The yellow stands out and looks much better.

I agree on the yellow stitching, but ditch the yellow seat belts. Black seatbelts with yellow stitching is a much more classy look.

I agree that this is a major problem, and one found often in the Porsche marketplace, meaning dealerships ordering loaded cars, and then selling them as ‘used’ with about 40 miles on them for more than MSRP because “the original owner decided they didn’t want the car”, or other BS like that.

A car like the ‘Pro’ is a highly individualistic purchase, and as such it should be ordered exactly as the owner wants; not what the dealership believes someone wants.

Rant over! lol

Congrats on the Allocation + Plus Some Thoughts on the Config

I am really pleased that you guys received a GT R PRO allocation given the support that you give to forum members in an enthusiast manner, not as high-pressure sales promotion.

- Add the high-end sound system @$4,500. Owner might never use it but it's nice for those few times one is stuck on the highway at rush hour.

- I prefer the interior with gray stripes and gray seat belts, but if going with yellow, I agree with the earlier comment to lose the yellow seat belts; I think it would be too jarring. If available, I'd do the red spec but it's not available on the GT R

- I might have missed it, but I didn't see one of the door sill plate options - illuminated or carbon fiber. I like illuminated but carbon fiber would look good in this spec. Best would be illuminated carbon fiber (like in my GT3) if available.

- I'd keep the Distronic. I've had it on the GT S and in previous AMG cars. In the PRO it has to have an OFF option and best if not able to be shut off only with ESP/TC completely off. I definitely do not tailgate; however, I found on Interstates at higher speeds the minimum allowable following distance was always too great. It was like I had a sign on the car: "OK to pull in right in front of me, that's why I'm leaving so #@&% much space!". That said, I would definitely order it as every likely owner will spend some time on the road vs. track where it can be valuable.

Its true, but then MB opened the door.

Porsche don't do this on GT cars - much fewer comfort/lux options available - no park, no M/F steering wheel...... sets the stall out for what it is.

So it sounds like maybe we should add yellow stitching and go with black seatbelts? Nobody thinks green stripe on the outside might clash with yellow stitching on the inside? Also come to think of it not sure you can opt for black seatbelts. Keep the distronic I think is the way to go and possibly add 3D Burmeister. They do have illuminated and carbon fiber door sill covers - not sure which to go with at the moment. Gloss carbon fiber only for the trim, cant go matte except the standard strut tower brace in the back.

Do you guys know when the estimated delivery will be? My sales guy tells me spring next year but to be honest, I don't think he has a clue.

Well I’m not entirely sure when they will do the release, but our car has a build date in late September. I would hope they would have it out before the end of the year which I’m sure is the common goal. Spring next year sounds wrong, but there have been delays before (E63s, GLC63).

Sounds like an abomination quite honestly.
