You're in pretty good company as there are many Vette loyalists who don't buy into the new platform. Lack of a manual trans is number 2. Add chrome wheels and it represents the trifecta of the old(er) Corvette club members.....Traditions!

This is my customers car, I’m doing some exhaust work on it. Currently it’s also lowered on 20/21 inch wheels, roof wrapped.

My 02. cents on the C8. Well I’ll start off by saying I have never owned a Chevy product before. The previous Corvettes had interiors so cheap looking I couldn’t look past that.

When my customer brought me this one I was SHOCKED. The interior is nice as can be. The seats are nice, the stitching, the carbon details, steering wheel, everything. The dash cluster screen looks great as does the infotainment. Nice rear camera, front camera, front lift! And yes the lift is an option.

The transmission shifts amazing and exhaust doesn't sound bad in stock form. Just when actually driving it got pretty quiet. That’s even with the optional exhaust. Doesn’t matter to me, I’m in the custom exhaust business.

Exterior wise the rear looked kinda funky at first. Now that it has the new wheels it’s evened out and I really like it.

The targa roof is easy to remove and fits in the trunk with dedicated holding spot.

I guess the only thing I don’t like is sooner or later they’ll be all over the place. I love the car though that’s for sure. The z06 is gonna hurt feelings.

Everyone has an opinion, I had a chance to buy one a few months back and could not get past the interior, IMO it looks like a someone tried to copy a couple of ques from some high end exotic cars and just created a mess.

I will say that I did like how it performed and how easy the targa was. Reliability/quality will be a open question for a year or so ... YES as soon as Chevy gets their act together around production they will be everywhere as it seems everybody wants one or is on a wait list to get one. Lucky for the current owners that production is limited or they would be losing their shirts on depreciation from 15-20k over sticker. mind you nothing like the 50K + loss most GT owners are seeing.

GM closed 2020 out with almost 21,000 C8s produced. This is even with the impact of the pandemic and a "parts shortage" (which was really said to be a covid attack at one of the parts suppliers) shutdown. 2021s are now rolling off the assembly line. Bowling Green can knock out 180 cars a day.

With 20,000 out there already, they really are becoming a common sight. Less so BC of winter in the north as many of these 20K cars are sitting in garages waiting for the snow to melt. Here in PHX I see at least one almost every time I am out.

I put my name on a waiting list in Nov. of 2019! But since then I have seen more than a few on the road and having a second thought. They look sloppy.

Oh I think the C8 Corvette will be an iconic car.

Looks like you are from Georgia so take a look at this about the C8 and the Georgia lottery from a guy who has never owned a Vette before.

Take a look at this you tube video. Unfortunately (because I too like the AMG GT) I don't see the media or youtubers for that matter talking about the AMG GT the same way as the C8.

Here is the link:

There are about 3 C8’s local to me, a Torch Red; Silver and Black and frankly they all look great IMHO. The rear aspect of the car is by far its weakest I believe, but that will be fixed I’m sure in upcoming model years and in particular when the Z06/7 version is released. As for the interior, you either like the design or you don’t but the quality is excellent from what I’ve seen and gather.

As for value for money, is there really any competition at this price point?

I’m not a vet fan anymore. I’ve had my share. The C5 and C6 were horribly built. The C7 was better but was still a poorly made car but the last few years of the C7 was better. But I would never buy a GM car especially a vet in the first few years of the product run. Every new generation they have so many issues in the first 3 years that ends up hurting the brand. The C8 is a bit better in every way except the interior. It’s terrible IMO. That row of buttons is an awful design flaw. I cannot believe that left the design studio that way. The interior doesn’t have any flow to it. My client just got his and I thought it was ok other then that, but still creaks and makes some funny noises. It’s still built very poorly and as cheaply as possible. I will say the seats are much much better than anything they had before. At least GM has finally somewhat modernized the plant at Bowling Green but still massively lags behind Mercedes and Porsche by leaps and bounds as far as how technologically advanced their building and plant is and it sort of shows in the cars.
