Ambient Lighting
My car is suppose to have ambient lighting and have no clue where it is or how to turn it on if its off. My S class had ambient lighting where you could change it to whatever color. I looked in the owners manual and nothing. I looked though the settings of the car and nothing. Sitting in the car there is clearly no ambient lighting. What am I missing, any help would be appreciated.

1 light from the bottom of the rear view and 2 led strips on the side of the center console (one per side). Underneath the ridge on the side. Not visible unless driving at night or sitting in a dark car

I too was excited about ambient lighting while waiting for my car. Turns out it was SCAMbient lighting instead. MB got us on that one.

All that money and they can't give you a decent ambient lighting system that even an A class has. Disgusting!

I have the same thoughts re the pathetic ambient lighting and also tried to find where I could turn it on, even considered taking the car in as I thought it was broken.
Extended interior lighting that I think consists of a little old school bulb on each of the foot wells that send out a feeble glow I find equally as pathetic.
As good as this car is it also has a myriad of little annoying faults like it is hard to use the sun visors as when closed I have trouble getting my fingers under the edge to fold them down.
I still smile every time I hit the start button put the roof down and drive out of my garage though!!!!

That said, MB shouldn't have called it ambient light as there is a certain expectation plus if they already put the LED light strips in, might as well make them color-select.

Why not? Can't think of a better car to have a flashy ambient light system than a sports car. Don't have to activate it on any car if you don't want it. Obviously members on this thread that would like it. Either way, as you stated, don't call it ambient light and then don't deliver the full version.

Have it E63s, had it in the S-Class and don't mind it in the AMG GT sedans as they all have the standard MB dash layout.
I was hoping for the ambient lighting to be somewhat like the SL with more color choices.
But you called the absence of full ambient light disgusting, something I can't follow. Hate to even imagine what you would think of seeing a $170k GTR without a garage door opener or keyless go

I like sports cars to be more purpose designed. Love ambient light (but prefer single color) but think that changing color patterns, etc. and too many lit elements on the AMG GT's would be as tacky as the illuminated star. Cheapens the look and the car IMO. The facelift AMG GT's coupes/roadsters don't have it either...

If you read the thread, others are upset as well at not having the full ambient lighting system. I personally feel having an excess of dead animal skin on dashboards and side panels tacky and paddle shifters worthless substitutes for a manual transmission ( which by the way, I find strange that none of newer MB cars have that option). That's just a preference, and has nothing to do with MB misrepresenting or under featuring a lighting function.
