Does Launch control damage the GTS

I have just discovered launch control in My 2016 GTS and am wondering if it can cause damage to the transmission or other components? Has anyone had a bad experience from it?

Advanced wear and tear is an obvious side effect of putting so much pressure, force and friction on a car. Just think about it. It will surely wear components down quickly and severely. This is a given. Im not sure what the warranty states about using this function. I remember the Nissan GTR would void the warranty. Also depends on how often you do this.

The best or nothing
It is designed very conservatively. Don't worry and enjoy it.

Yeah. Do launch’s everyday and see how that works out.

From the US AMG powertrain contact engineer that I spoke with before purchasing...launch control is fully within the design parameters of the car and will not cause any warranty implications specifically. Abuse can, but I think we can all draw the line between abuse and just using launch control a few times. According to him, if the car isn't happy with any one aspect of the dozens it checks before launching, it won't let it engage.

That being said, it will certainly cause more wear and tear-you are rapidly engaging the clutches, heating up the trans, wearing on the tires, and engaging the suspension. But I doubt that when used within reason it is anything to worry about.

Think of it like alcohol. Moderation is the key (no pun intended).

2017 AMG GT S (previous MBZ was a C32 AMG)
at what transmission fluid temp does the warning message come on that "launch control cannot be activated due to transmission overheat, cannot activate launch control"?

And speaking of temp, make sure your car is amply warmed up before doing any repetitive launches, as well as all your fluids and maintenance is up to date, that's a giving but don't hurt to be safe.

Early GTR's had this issue, this has been fixed with software and TSB clips, and the 2014's and up don't have this issue and they have newer launch control software, I had ECUEk which completely changed launched control.

I would agree that this puts wear and tear on the trans but if the trans failed during the warranty period, MB would have to cover it since race launch is a feature offered standard with the car. I would use the feature on the GT occasionally and for fun and you'll likely not have issues.
