Best tire for launch
I have a 16 GTS. I have a friend with a lamborghini huracan and my son has a new C8 Corvette. We play around from time to time. My car is not a daily driver, and is only driven on warm, dry days. I’m looking for the best hook up and the biggest tire I can put on the rear, on an OEM rim. It is only for straight line acceleration.

If you are drag racing from a stop, a drag radial will be best. This will make the car handle like poop. Mickey Thompson makes the stickiest street legal drag radial and it comes in a 305/35/20 size. I personally wouldn't run this on a GTS.
Second best would be Toyo R888R. This comes in a 315/30/20. This is what I would recommend. I run these on my 700whp GTS and they dead hook in 2nd gear from a 40-60 punch.

Get a tune and you'll be nipping at the heels of the Huracan but he should still edge you out.
I believe a stock Huracan traps 132-133mph in the 1/4 mile. A tuned GTS should be around 130mph.
My friend had a stock Gen V Viper that also traps around 131-132mph. With a tune and downpipes, my GTS was almost even, maybe a half car length behind on the highway.

Toyo R888R, or if you want a bit more comfort and treadwear, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

OP-Most of those reviews are probably referencing the R888, which was noisy. The R888R is quieter. BUT keep in mind, you are after a sticky performance track type tire, they are NOT supposed to be as quiet as a passenger radial.

They are definitely worse than Michelins but the new generation is not nearly as noisy as the previous generation. I had a lot of people warn me I'd hate them so I was prepared for the worst but was pleasantly surprised. I run them on all my "traction challenged" cars. I just don't drive on them in the rain or temps below 50.

I dont think GTR wheels will fit a GTS properly.

Difinitive:rear 20x12 with a 52 offset will NOT look good, wheel WILL stick out of wheel well. You will be laughed at and people will cringe, I have just saved you from that
The tire sizes work fine on appropriate width and offset wheels for a GT/GTS.

It should be fine for normal driving. It's not optimal for handling if you drive like a racecar driver on the street. That's what I am doing now since I have 20s on the front and R888r don't come in a 275/20. I still have Michelins on the front.

what do you think about putting the R888R’s on the front also?

I would just do the rears first. 315/30/20. If you don't like how the car handles, then do the fronts also. 275/35/19
R-compound tires will pick up a lot more rocks and road debris. You're more likely to get rock chips if you do the fronts also. If all you care about is performance, then do all four tires. I run R888r on all my fun cars but I keep one daily with Michelins for everyday use.
