More Deaths From Testosterone Fueled Canyon Riders
I know this newspaper article from the Orange County Register, Southern California is not specifically about AMGs, but it is emblematic of the idiocy that passes for youthful racing in Southern California. I've seen so many of these testosterone filled young men racing to their graves on the back roads around me. Let's all be careful out there and leave racing for the race track and NOT local canyon roads.
"Two motorcycles collided head-on in the Santiago Canyon area of Orange County, leaving four people dead on Sunday, July 7, officials said.
The crash happened on Santiago Canyon Road, about a quarter of a mile south of Hicks Haul Road in the hills south of Irvine Lake and northeast of Lake Forest at about 4:30 p.m., Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz said. Paramedics found two women and two men dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation suggests that a motorcycle with one driver and one passenger that was headed north attempted to pass a burgundy Scion tC, California Highway Patrol Officer Florentino Olivera said. It traveled into southbound lanes, where the vehicle slammed head-on into a second motorcycle that was also ridden by two people. The Scion was not involved in the crash.
The identities of those killed and other details were not immediately released. Both directions of Santiago Canyon Road were shut down at Hicks Haul Road on Sunday evening as CHP officials conducted an investigation.
No other injuries were reported, Kurtz said."

The telephone pole at the end of my property on Mulholland Highway has a cross on it with someone's initials and an "RIP." The laws of gravity and physics are not suspended when you are young and drive a fast car, especially when your common sense is suspended.

I'd be surprised if the average age of posters in this section of the forums was below 45.

Horrible to read this. I have to mention that when I see bikers riding, they aren’t the most “responsible” riders in general. They tend to ride with the attitude that the cars around them are a nuisance, they own the road, they always have right of way under any circumstance, they are always in a hurry, and traffic doesn’t apply to them. I get it, it’s an attitude or a style but they need to be even more cautious and alert.
Aggressive driving then adds to this dangerous environment...

Sadly there is a learning curve in motorcycles and in life. some get over it, some don't.
Sometimes I think it is a miracle I ever got older and hopefully wiser.

I live near there. I can’t stand the unbelievable decibel levels coming from some of those motorcycles.
Everyone needs to drive defensively. It’s an outrage that people had to die because a moron crossed over into someone else’s lane for a pass!!! The driving in SoCal is plain and simple idiotic.

I lived off of Santiago Cyn Road for over 20 years. We would have at least two fatal accidents a year mostly m/c. The county widened one area that had a decreasing radius turn that would seem to catch over zealous 911's off guard and superior german engineering allowed the *** end to hit the shoulder drop off first when they lifted. Most survived the off and embarrassment hopefully wiser.
Some didn't.

Man, your thread is pretty misleading. This indecent did not involve "racing". This was two riders on cruiser type bikes, like Harleys, with passengers. One rider passed a car on a double yellow and collided with a bike coming the other direction. Because this was not very far from Cook's corner, there may have been drinking involved as well. Also the demographic for this type of rider is typically older...
It's not like this was a couple young kids on sportbikes ripping up the canyons......
