Driveshaft Recall
Just got notice of a driveshaft recall for 2016-2017 AMG GT's (C190) claiming the bonding between the driveshaft and transmission flange can fail. They will replace the carbon fiber driveshaft and flange BUT they have no clue when the replacement parts will be available.

I'm assuming this webpage should notify us if we are due for this?
https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/recall
Or is it junk? And we should contact a MB dealer? I've never messed with MB and recalls, yet, so no clue how people find out if they are affected or not.

I got the recall letter also, oddly enough my car is already at the dealer for what I thought was the same issue. Dealer is saying its the transmission and unrelated to this recall.
The failure I had was exact to what the older thread on here stated was the driveshaft failure.( left turn, acceleration, bang, rear diff malfunction message then transmission malfunction message)
2016 GTS with 4k miles.

From the NHTSA website
Loss of Torque due to Driveshaft Bond Failure
If the adhesive bond fails and results in a loss of torque to the rear wheels, the vehicle operator may be unable to move the vehicle, or may experience deceleration if the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V308000
Manufacturer Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC.
Components POWER TRAIN
Potential Number of Units Affected 136
Summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain model year 2016 AMG GT S vehicles manufactured June 1, 2015 to July 24, 2015. In affected vehicles, the adhesive bond between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and the rear flange may fail, and as a result, there may be a loss of torque to the rear wheels.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the carbon-fiber driveshaft, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on July 29, 2016. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2016050008.
And the notice to MB:
What’s the Issue: Daimler AG has determined that on certain MY16 AMG GT S vehicles (C190) the bond between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and the engine/transmission flange might not meet the specification. The strength of the adhesive between the drive shaft and the flange might be compromised due to insufficient cleaning of the respective bonding surfaces prior to assembly. In such a case, the carbon-fiber driveshaft might separate from the flange and spin. This could result in loss of traction between the engine and transmission and thus lead to loss of motive power, and increase the risk of a potential crash. What We’re Doing: MBUSA has initiated a voluntary recall of the 135 potentially affected vehicles described above. The recall will be conducted by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to check the driveshaft and replace it if necessary. Please note that MB Select funds may be used for this recall to enhance the customer experience with these new vehicles.

Mine failed at 1900 miles. I am the second owner. Had zero issues at the dealership. Well except time. Took 3 weeks to get the part from Germany. Plus they have to completely gut the cars undercarriage. Wish I would have taken pictures. But my real point was to not sweat the issue to much. If you have a good local dealership like I do you will be happy with the outcome.

Mine failed at 3k miles. It was fixed and have never had any issues since than. Car has 27k miles now.
It took a few weeks as at that time they had to order the parts from Germany. The good thing was that MBUSA also paid for 1 month of my lease since the car sat at the dealership for a few weeks.

That is correct there was a guy in Atlanta that had run a half mile and broke his driveshaft and they initially denied the claim and then examined it and figured out the glue literally that held the carbon fiber shaft was defective and right after that they issued a recall back in 2016
