There are a few threads about this. If you want to do this, you have to remove the rear bumper and you will be left with 3 holes on each side if I remember correctly that you will have to plug. I had to replace one of them on mine as someone had damaged so it was labor intensive.
Fortunately you hardly notice them in person. I also had bumperette anxiety before delivery of my GTR, but once I saw it in the context of the whole car, they just disappeared. Not sure why it sticks out so much in photos.
The US sized plate doesn't look bad at all. I would remove the plate frame, however. I really hope the owner isn't leaving those plugs...needs the follow through with the bodywork!

The glare actually makes it easier to tell, otherwise the black all just runs together and you can't get the contrast. If I see him Saturday I'll get a pic of it now that it's matte red, which will make it easier to see the contrast.
