Removing front grill Star on GTs
Anyone know how to remove the front Mercedes star from the front grill on a GTs? I seen a few videos of the star coming off by twisting it counter clockwise but does seem to work on the GTs.

I second the removal request. I can't get mine to turn and I definitely don't want to break anything.

I'm sure glad that Mercedes Benz has numbered the Mercedes Star (No. 3) and provided us with the description, "Mercedes Star." Otherwise I would be confused as to where the hell the Mercedes Star is located. (As for No. 2, well is that a star or an emblem?)

I tried to buy the $600 OEM one from my dealer and they told me it will not work in a GTS.
So I ordered this one, it works and fits perfect .
You will need the " twist style"
like cutter said, this will not work on the flat glass stars.

As others have mentioned the “glass star” as you refer to it, is actually a sensor assembly for part of option “239-Disctronic Plus”. You cannot properly replace the Star without some work electronically to the cars electronics to code it out.

So going my to the original question..you can’t replace the twist off star with the “glass distronic star”? If that is the case I would assume the only way to do this would be to get the trim piece that goes with the distronic star? Does anyone have the part number for that?

I was opposed to the light up star but now I feel it gives it a futuristic look to it... the glass star is distronic as mentioned and is a B to remove! If the diamter is the same, no reason you cant have the glass star, just no distronic

The only thing is regular one is a twist off and the distronic is a snap on..

I find the lighted star to be tacky. To me it screams "Look at me! Look at me! I drive a Mercedes!!" No need for Mercedes drivers to act like the drivers of a 15 year old M3.
