Buying a 2017 GT S - Advise Needed!
Hey! I’m looking at a pre-owned 2017 GT S with only 6k miles on it. Clean title. The price is at 86k USD.
I’m not super familiar with all the options and would like to know if the car is missing any important/must-have options!
Please let me know if this is a solid deal or just fair deal! Much appreciated!
Here is the option list.
- Carbon Ceramic Brakes
- Carbon interior trim
- Cross Bar Carbon Fiber Gloss
- AMG Aerodynamic package
- AMG Dynamic Plus Package
- AMG 19/20 Cross Spoke Forged Wheels
- AMG Exterior Night Styling
- Panorama Roof
- Silver exterior Matte Finish

Dynamic engine and transmission mounts are important, it seems like yours has them.
Burmester High End makes a big difference, but the engine and transmission make great noises to compensate.

Personal preference... I’d rather have the high end Burnmeister stereo than the carbon brakes. Regardless, looks like a sweet deal on a nicely optioned GTS.

you can always upgrade the stereo many different ways but you can’t really retro the ceramics.

Not to overly worry the OP, just use the threaded rods to guide the rims on the hub whenever the rims are replaced.

That’s what I meant by not being able to easily retro the ceramics it’ll cost you $20,000. Upgrading the stereo maybe a few grand. Burmester parts not really that special at all.

I see what you mean... 3rd party audio upgrade would be cheaper than the Burmester HE upgrade, as you’d need a new wiring hardness, new amp, and new speakers - which is likely to cost $10K or more from MB.

I can run a few miles down the road for food, after just detailing the car, and I'll already have brake dust on the wheels by the time I get home.

High End Burmestser is indeed superior to without, but you make that call OP, if you love your tunes, you will want. If not much of a crank the tunes type, then enjoy the engine and exhaust instead! Like others have said, you can always upgrade audio easily too.
For a ease of cleaning street car, absolutely carbon ceramics produce less dust and keep things cleaner for longer, you will like that if you can live with that "gold-ish" caliper color. However, they are NOT the way to go if you are a serious braker, frequesnt track day kind of owner.....cost of replacement, thermal heating & cooling curves, etc, etc, etc.....so pick what suites you best there as well.
Whatever you choose, you will be happy and enjoy the car. Happy Hunting for "The One".
Don't be afraid of '16's if you find a good one spec'd how you like. Seem to be some good ones out there.
Seems that a small sample size of people on this forum had something go wrong and the perception is they had issues, besides the driveshaft recall (which as any recall is FREE to fix) I have yet to see any real world issues related to cars that are '16's, because they are '16's. I do know a few on here had very early production date '16 Edition 1's that complained of various little things which assuming were fixed under warranty.

You can get a nice aftermarket stereo for $5-10k. I wouldn't hold out for Burmester on the used market since I'm guessing less than 25% of cars have that option.

Someone may be able to correct me, if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware, there aren't any differences between 16s and 17s at all. And the recalls aren't issues worth worrying about, and only a handful of the 16s were effected.

Correct, no differences. Recall is a SMALL percentage and nothing worth worrying about at all. Its just a driveshaft.

Looks like a great deal. Even with low mileage I would check that the car is in good condition.
As in interior wear and paint issues.
Have and love Magno paints, but it can’t be touched up or buffed so I would check out in the car in person in case it’s in another state.

I was gonna say...I've heard you mention this before. That's my only minor complaint with my car. I don't think I would've bought another daily driver if my 2016 GTS didnt jar the life out of me over bad roads. It's perfect over smooth highway but potholes and bumps are no bueno.

I'm also considering a used GT S 16. My girlfriend would really appreciate if I went with the softest ride between the two. Is the 17 that much of a difference? Also, would having the dynamic ride control option make the ride softer as well? (Assuming ride control in soft vs no ride control option.)
