I just found this kit, pricey, but I did contact the manufacturer and they confirmed that the CarPlay adapter for the W205 will work on GT’s that are running the NTG 5.* COMAND Op. system. Here’s the linkhttps://www.naviplus.com.au/online-s...lass-p97939064
Has anyone on hear tried it? I’m seriously considering it. I use Waze everyday and since our cars don’t have any really good phone mounting options, I’m leaning toward this.

They all work well. Only thing is the audio will be through an AUX cable so you lose a bit of quality.

 

Not sure about this one, the touch overlay of the screen seems a little ghetto.

Wondering if there are any options that can be controlled through the factory interface.

 

All features can also be controlled from the factory Comand controller. The touch overlay more closely resembles a screen protector. I don’t think the screen overlay must be installed for the system to function.

would just be really nice to have CarPlay. This is my daily driver so most of my time is spent tooling around South Fla. rather than on a track. This car will only see a track one or two times a year.

 

I've seen several of these installed in various vehicles with the NTG.5. They all work the same and none of the guys I know that installed them have had any issues. If you're an audiophile you'll notice the decrease in sound quality though. However if you're using mainly Bluetooth Audio already I don't think you'll notice much difference. I wouldn't bother installing the touchscreen overlay either, you can skip it.

 

The are a number of systems that work on other models but not the GT as the GT is missing some typical dash buttons. Like the Media button which is required for the unichip interface. The only interface that appears to be a proven solution is the Joye interface. Another member (Turbofly) has created a great step-by-step install guide for it. Best that the interface is wireless CarPlay as well. That's the one I will go for when time permits...
