Any better recommendations Than The Renntech EVM?

Me too! I'm having a bit of a difficult time finding someone to do it for me. I think I have someone lined up but waiting to hear back. I promise I'll let you all know as soon as I know!

When I press the valve open button and start the car, it starts loud and then after 30 seconds it quiets up, like the valves close. Is this normal? The car behaved like this before the ASR module was plugged in. I was under the impression that this would not happen with the ASR module…. And,
if I turn the car off in sport + or race mode, should the car remember that setting when I turn it back on?

How quiet does it actually get? The car will naturally quiet a bit when the rpms drop after the initial warmup phase, on cold start.
As for the second question, it depends on which brand of module you have.
- If you have the ASR/Renntech module, then it should always keep the valves open, even after shutting it off, until you use the fob to change it back to stock configuration.
- If you have the Cete module, then it won't remember the setting after shutting down the vehicle, and you will have to select the exhaust mode pre-startup, every time. Someone said that the most recent version of this module does have a memory function, but I don't know if that's true or how recently that was actually implemented.

Oh, it quiets down slightly. I thought it shouldn’t quiet down at all. I have the ASR and it doesn’t remember the setting. For example, if I turn the car off in sport +, when I start the car, it’ll go back to comfort mode. I think every thing is installed right. I have a 16 AMG GTS by the way
The car itself will always go back to Comfort, after shutting it down, but your valves should stay in whichever mode you setup for your start mode. Did you program the start mode you wanted?
Auto translated instructions from the ASR page:
The start mode can be freely programmed as desired
Last state: Press the "Sport Mode" button 5 times within 5 seconds.
Other modes: Press the button for the mode you want to learn as the start mode for about 10 seconds.
The flaps open and close 5 times to confirm successful programming of the start mode.

oh man I didn’t even realize there was instructions on programming. Silly question but how am I “pressing” a button if the different modes are on the knobs? I would want sport + mode on all the time.

First whether you buy ASR unit in EU for US$ 385.- plus 19%VAT+shipping to the USA at $102, ( paying $560), or
buying Renntech for about $605 shipping in the USA included, we are all overpaying for such a simple electronics.
Any suggestion for alternate?
So yes, the upcharge, and frankly the entire cost is an idiot tax

so I’ve been having an issue with the ASR module. All the buttons on the remote work and I can hear the tone of the exhaust change when I open/close it. I would like to get the car to start in sport + mode. I’ve held down the open button for 5 seconds when I’m sport + mode and hear the flaps opening and closing 5 times to confirm the command but when I turn off the car off the settings won’t save and the car starts in comfort mode. Per the ASR website, I’ve even tried to hold the open button for 10 seconds, the flaps again open and close confirming the command but the car doesn’t remember the latest setting. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
You can only save the last state of the ASR module.
It is normal for your GT to jump back from Sport + to Comfort (after 4 hours of inactivity).
The ASR flap control does not change that.
Best regards
Stenzel

I haven’t heard the car defaulting back to comfort after 4 hours of inactivity before, wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of the ASR if you wanted to start the car in sport +??

How are you saving the last state of the ASR? I’ve pressed the open button 5 times and then separately held the open button for 10 seconds and it never saves in sport +

There is no way to change the driving mode that the car starts in, sadly. You can can only use the module to choose whether or not the exhaust valves are wide open on startup. What you are selecting, when you change the module's startup mode, is the whether the exhaust valves are open, closed, or using stock settings, on startup.
The names of the modes for the remote/module (Sport, Comfort, Stock) are completely separate from the names of the car's driving modes (i*, Comfort, Sport, Sport +, Race).

I think you may have a misunderstanding of what the module does. It does not choose, or alter, the drive modes that you select via the knob or steering wheel buttons, it only overrides the exhaust valve signal that those driving modes would use to dictate how much they should open or close.

Do you know if the exhaust memory settings stay the same when you put the car in manual mode?
