You should install the new mesh covers that started shipping as standard on the 2018 or 2019MY GTs. You can try to get it done under warranty because all cars now have the mesh... but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
DIY-Ing this would be tough, at least not without the shop manual.
About the engine oil cooler, no, it will stay in place and it doesn't need to be removed. But the hydraulic steering oil cooler ideally needs to be removed. You can remove the radiator assembly without removing it but there are 2 bolts which are almost impossibly to reach.

Dealer is claiming these are not correct part numbers. FWIW
IM ABOUT TO DIY this **** instead of paying $$$ for plastic grid.

I went over to dealer this morning and he’s still claiming there’s six parts that are needed and now it’s $400 for the parts and 500 for the install. So I caved in and called Mercedes-Benz customer service and put a claim in. Supposed to hear back in 24.
On the dealer floor, There is a GTR convertible and a pro both with the covers obviously.
Ty. Exactly. <100$.

I pulled the OEM radiator covers off from the front of the bumper, which took all of 30 seconds. Used them as a template over the expanded mesh. Cut the mesh out with some wire snips. Painted them black then plastic welded them into the rear of the OEM covers. Snapped them back into the bumper. Took me all of two hours, which included waiting 20 minutes between each of the three coats of paint and letting them dry for another 30.
That’s pretty cool. How specifically did you get the covers off ? I have some metal mesh I bought from Home Depot as a back up.
You’re probably right. We should definitely pay three times the price for parts and solely rely on the engineers that f’ed up the design in the first place to properly design something the second time. Lol
The original 3 part numbers WERE CORRECT.
