It happened to me! The radiator got hit by a stone and I had to fork out 2600$ to get the radiator fixed and the front mesh for it. I asked them about the mesh for the side intercoolers and they said they dont have anything like that with them. I am hoping I will be able to find them using the part numbers you have mentioned. A0995030200 x2 side intercooller protection for GTS 2016
There should be a class action lawsuit against them! This is an obvious design fault yet Mercedes doesnt want to compensate or show some good will to the customers. It costed 1350$ for the parts and 1200$ for labor !
Started looking into adding these protective grills.....
On the center radiator grill towards the drivers side, there is a small sensor attached to the grill. Is that the outside air temperature sensor or something else?
At least Mercedes has fixed this with the 2018MY and is retrofitting older cars, often at no cost. Porsche, on the other hand, has done nothing to protect the radiators. It’s a similar design. Even the 992 has no protection. Only the GT cars have mesh grills.
has anyone claimed this through insurance or paid out of pocket? I have Geico, I paid out of the pocket at that time but was wondering maybe insurance does cover these sort of things.

Comprehensive should cover this, just like a rock breaking the windshield
