Hello all. Hope everyone is staying safe during this pandemic. I am currently in the process of taking over a 2019 AMG GT roadster. Gorgeous white and black colorway. After agreeing on an incentive, the current owner is submitting all info to MBF to get this going. I was wondering how MBF works during lease transfers. I have leased 2 new MB in the past (CLK 430 and S430) through MBF, so I have dealings with them in the past. But I am worried because back in 2015, I applied for a lease transfer on a Maserati GT from Ally Bank, but I was unapproved due to high debt to income ratio. I also did have a mortgage at the time which I do not have now, so I am hoping this will not be a negative factor this time around. My salary is more than justifiable to be in this car. I am trying to stay calm just in case it falls through, but I am also eager to get in the car. Does anyone have any pointers for me during this process? Thanks in advance.

Unless there are big red flags in your credit report I would assume that MBFS will approve the transfer. After all, you are taking over financial responsibility and during these COVID-19 times, maintaining leases in good standing is key for MBFS...
Once completed make sure to post pics of your new car. Welcome to the forum!
I transferred 2 leases, the whole process took 2-3 weeks, could take longer at this time. MBFS has a few people who handles transfers only. Not much you can do, just wait for the approval. Btw, the owner should request for a credit application to be sent to you from his MBFS account online, no other way around it.

I guess that's the Cutter way to welcome a new member...
it’s a car. He already has an automobile . If he doesn’t have the money to pony up, then move on. You don’t need a GT while the world and Economy are crumbling around us.
he already put the wheels in motion and needs to wait for a response . What should he do while waiting to relieve his anxiety about getting it? Are you kidding me?
just drive what he has. If he gets it, great . If not , keep driving his current car.

I was asking about pointers on the lease transfer process, not anxiety release pointers. I go to a psychiatrist for the rest of my problems. LOL. Still awaiting the owner to start this process on his end. He is 70+ years old. So this may take longer than expected. If I am not approved for the transfer, I will do 1 of 3 things. 1) Call MBFS and offer to pay for the remainder of the lease in full (I HAVE TO SELL MIATA FIRST). 2) Walk into dealer and lease it outright (not the route I want to go but whatever). Or 3) Move onto a different car. Only the future can tell the rest.
Hope you get the car and it works out for you!! It might take a while and some paper pushing but hang in there. Your gonna love it and post pics and brag a bit!
btw, MBFS might deny any lease transfers now as they want to move cars on the lots
Yes. I believe that. Also, the owner called MBFS yesterday. He was told they are not doing any transferring apps right now due to pandemic. However, we made a gentleman’s agreement to keep our agreement as is in order to get this done. So now we just wait and see.
Hello all. Hope all is well during these times. I need some help. Long story short, I was in the process of looking at a car off of SWAPALEASE for a lease transfer around mid May. At that time, MBFS suspended all lease transfers due to COVID and the process was on hold. As I called MBFS today, I was told all lease transfers are now permanently not permitted through MBFS for good, not just due to CODID. Can anyone fact check this? I was told this decision was made on Saturday, June 13th and the website should update that new policy in writing but it has not been done as of this 9 am this morning.
Sold the miata today and got this. I think cutter's cousin bought it off of me. Kept looking for the right AMG but nothing came up. Maybe in another 3 years I will finally get my GT. Thanks for your inputs!

Sorry you couldn't get the GT you wanted, congrats on the new ride!
