L o L... Especially considering there are already a few on the market for less than $200k. I hope they take a loss on it.

That looks amazing in the Gulf colors. The price, however, is amazing in a negative way!

I dealt with them years ago when the GTS was just coming out. They had had one on the floor for a huge markup - $30 or 50K - if I remember correctly and later told me that they knew they couldn't get that but it brought in traffic and was a conversation starter. They laster sold it for list I believe.

Ah, so it's just for the shock factor, interesting tactic.

And that is probably the only one they'll get for the year so it has a lot of advertising value for quite a while and will likely eventually sell for the same price - so this way they get buzz for months - for free. But I should also tell you that in So Cal there is a lot of $$$ from overseas that is in the hands of young men...for whom paying way over list is nothing. The local dealers routinely sell "exotic" cars like that for way over list. If an extra $50 or $100K is close to nothing for you...then....why not. And it happens all the time.

Maybe Vic has some more recent info on this. Perhaps it's changed.

While I definitely understand that, I'm a very principled person and markups like that go against those principles no matter what the product is.

That was my assumption as well, but anytime I see an “ADDED MARK UP” sticker on any vehicle, the status of that dealer drops several notches in my estimation. Not cool.

There’s a couple new and used up here in Toronto

For sale. The used Pro is a loaded Triple Black and they are asking $224K CAD which is about $20k less than MSRP. There are a few regular GTR’s floating around for the same $225k (full jam and list) too. I don’t see the value in the Pro unless it’s in the $175-185K range. I think once the Black Series comes out they will probably stagnate but what will really happen is anyone’s guess. But if you want a cheap one with a 40% discount here is the link:

Then never set foot in a Porsche store LOL.

ADM's are a way of life there on GT cars but unlike this GTR - Porsche gets their markups- for most part if the car is on the ground and not ordered. (GT)

Our dealerships in my town were doing $1000 ADMs on Honda Accords at the start of the current generation.

Just to put things in perspective.

sorry I wasn’t clear previously. I wouldn’t pay more than 175-185K CAD for it because I don’t see the value in it vs a GTR which we have loaded 2020’s here with low mileage going for approx $170 CAD...

If I had one, it wouldn’t be a garage queen. Having all that CF would make me cringe at the cost of replacing it from the wear and tear of daily use and track time or parking it anywhere lol.

When the BMW i8 came out in mid 2014 I received one of the first ones. At list price. I had bought about a dozen BMWs from the dealer going back to 1992. so the dealer agreed when I ordered it on the first day you could do so that it will be sold to me at list.

When I went to pick up the car, I was called into the general manager's office and offered $25,000 to let the dealership sell it to someone else. I was told that the dealer could sell it for a $50,000 markup and that the dealership would split the "profit" with me.

Foolishly, I declined. ("I'm not in the car business," I said.) The first two years of driving the car were a bit of a novelty. But after year 2 it became a bore. So I traded it in for the AMG GT.
