So attached is my last alignment when I put my 20/21 inch tires on my 16 AMG GTS. I started tracking (HPDE) recently using my OEM wheels and Toyo R888R (315 rears ) tires. I also have a a full Weistec W.3 putting down about 650Hp/650TQ which doesn't mean anything on the track really... Anyway I'm having the MB dealership do my alignment again this week with the shims and wanted some suggestions. I have 8-10 events scheduled over the next 6 months. I've got the brake situation in check thanks to this forum but would love some feedback on my alignment. It is not a DD at all but is also not a track only car so my PS4 on my 20/21 combo need to last!... Fire away
.
I have -2.5 front and -2.3 rear. toe and caster stock. I have found that it is pretty optimal for tire wear on the GTR for the track but I am running slicks. I don't DD my car enough to be able to tell if the cup 2s are wearing from this set up but I think the tires should last you quite a bit with that alignment
-2.5 front camber -2.3 back for me as well. Everything else stock. You will begin to trade braking distance and wet traction if you go much further than that. Wider tires and better springs would be better than -3 camber.
I am running a ‘square’ set-up of -2.5 camber F and R with stock toe and caster iirc. Great handling and not ‘nervous’ on the street. I’ve noticed no excess tyre wear running this alignment.

Hi Buddy, how much did you pay for the alignment? My shop is charging me $500 and said they could not do the camber or caster, coz they dont have the kit!

You have to buy two boxes of the OEM shims in order to change the alignment,, and whilst more expensive than a ‘normal’ alignment, I think $500 is about $100-$200 too high. Beauty is: once the alignment is set with the new shims it won’t move.
Bottom line: find another shop that knows what needs to be done ASAP

What Bish says…..ditch the mess that is the shop you had your recent experience with.
