Is it worth upgrading from 2017 Amg GT to a 2020 GTS?

Opinions please? I only have the GT. No suspension upgrade or exhaust button. Is it worth stepping up?

I would move to the 2019 GTC

Best overall sound and less tech to go wrong.

If it's from a GT to another GT there is little value if any. Depending on the 2020 it could be downgrade as several options have gone away and quite a few cars just sport the MB-tex interior.
The new exhaust pipes look nice, same for the updated front clip IMO and Apple CarPlay. Gauge cluster, center console and headlights is a pro or con based on who you ask.

Since there were no technical improvements I strongly suggest to wait a year for the next AMG GT model that will come with significant changes.

2020 advantages:
  • Digital dash
  • Bigger infotainment screen with CarPlay
  • Front camera

2020 subjective differences:
  • Centre console with rectangular buttons with low resolution screens on them
  • Slightly different lights, bumpers, exhaust tips
  • Different steering wheel

2020 disadvantages:
  • Quieter exhaust (compared to pre-facelift sports exhaust)

Driving characteristics and performance would be near identical for pre vs. post facelift models. I was tempted by the digital dash, CarPlay, and front camera, but I prefer the pre-facelift exhaust sound and round centre console buttons. In my opinion, the depreciation hit would not be worth the minor tech and cosmetic upgrades.

Where an upgrade can make sense is moving from a base GT to a GT C. In addition to the facelift differences, you’d get the all the extra power and performance features of a GT C.

I’d suggest waiting a few months for 2021 GT C models to start coming out, and then pick up a leftover 2020 GT C at a discount. Alternatively, wait for the next generation car. The next generation will undoubtedly be faster, but it remains to be seen if it will be any more enjoyable to drive.

I tested the GTS and GTR, but bought a GTC. The GTC felt just like the GTR, and a good chunk nicer than the GTS. I don't think GT to GT2020 will make any difference, you won't even get the rear-wheel stearing.

The cheapest '19 GTC I can find is for almost $110,000. And even if you drop down to an '18, most of those start around $115,000. There is one for almost $90,000 but it was involved in an accident.

.
Hmm the GT market is much stronger than I realized. I paid $130k for my GTC roadster as a brand new 2018 leftover last August. Thats pretty wild - Im guessing the demand for these cars must have gone up in the last year or so.

Year is always gonna be better faster but when do you pull the trigger. ,if you want it get it
