Is it worth upgrading from 2017 Amg GT to a 2020 GTS?

The new exhaust pipes look nice, same for the updated front clip IMO and Apple CarPlay. Gauge cluster, center console and headlights is a pro or con based on who you ask.
Since there were no technical improvements I strongly suggest to wait a year for the next AMG GT model that will come with significant changes.
- Digital dash
- Bigger infotainment screen with CarPlay
- Front camera
2020 subjective differences:
- Centre console with rectangular buttons with low resolution screens on them
- Slightly different lights, bumpers, exhaust tips
- Different steering wheel
2020 disadvantages:
- Quieter exhaust (compared to pre-facelift sports exhaust)
Driving characteristics and performance would be near identical for pre vs. post facelift models. I was tempted by the digital dash, CarPlay, and front camera, but I prefer the pre-facelift exhaust sound and round centre console buttons. In my opinion, the depreciation hit would not be worth the minor tech and cosmetic upgrades.
Where an upgrade can make sense is moving from a base GT to a GT C. In addition to the facelift differences, you’d get the all the extra power and performance features of a GT C.
I’d suggest waiting a few months for 2021 GT C models to start coming out, and then pick up a leftover 2020 GT C at a discount. Alternatively, wait for the next generation car. The next generation will undoubtedly be faster, but it remains to be seen if it will be any more enjoyable to drive.
