AMG GT Seat Belts Aren’t Universal
As I recently came to find out, the Australian seat belt assemblies are not compatible with American-spec cars. I had the Australian assemblies re-webbed before finding this out.
Aussie: 1 electrical connection
US: 2 electrical connections
Australian version on the left. American on the right.
Fortunately, I was able to figure out how to swap the belts out of the assembly, but the wife wasn’t happy when my two hour project turned into several hours!
Once I get my hands on some US spec assemblies, I’ll make another thread for the seat belt exchange and will make a “how to” video for anyone wanting to do it themselves. If anyone in Australia wants to buy some assemblies on the cheap, let me know.
No worries on the plan. It wasn’t a money making venture. Simply a way for common enthusiasts to make their cars in their liking without suffering a couple weeks of downtime for the turnaround.

This came out great! What did the project cost you all-in? Minus the Australian assemblies I guess. Looking to potentially do this.
presafe or without presafe.. basically pulls u in when the car brakes for front collision warning
presafe seatbelts costs more than the basic ones
Other considerations: materials may break down with Heat & UV exposure. How are their materials stored/sourced?
OEM Belts are made to meet stringent safety standards.
Am not sure I'd trust any critical safety component to an eBay outfit, or even aftermarket, without published testing/certification.
