Moving On . . .

A complete change.
Tomorrow I pick up my 2020 red AMG GT roadster.
My local dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse. And I wanted a roadster back in 2017 but MBZ wasn't importing them yet.
As for the entry level model, I'm 75, so 469 HP is sufficient.
This will by my 20th Mercedes Benz. I bought my first one, a 280 SL Pagoda roof, around Easter 1971 at W.I. Simonson in Santa Monica and drove it back to Massachusetts where I was a 3L in law school.

The car is lovely. I've had it for 2 days. It's what I thought it would be, and pretty much drives, sounds and feels like the coupe. But without a top., (It's my 5th Mercedes convertible.)
But . . .
The infotainment and navigation systems are overly complex. They are not intuitive and appear to be for the convenience of the builders, not the driver. Ergonomically they are failures. Despite my decrepitude at 75, I am an early adopter of technology. I worked my way quickly through all the touch screens and menus of my new Audi e-tron, and while that was a pain in the a$$, on this car I am unable to make radio stations favorites or access them, orally command the vehicle to drive to my home (which I finally got it to remember), or save destinations in navigation. I've read the owner's manual and it is pathetic.
Among JD Power's "ratings" is one for new car problems within the first month or two (or something like that). Mercedes always scores poorly because its technologies are too complex and poorly explained. While I will not report my problems as faults, they are definitely problems that will scare people away. My 2018 coupe was easy to understand; very intuitive and with real buttons that you could press or turn or toggle. Not this car. It has "sensors" and touch screens.
As for the vehicle itself, apart from the impossible technology, the only problem with it as a vehicle is that it's hard to see out the rear because of the hump that is the top of the roof that sits maybe 8-10 inches above the rear deck.
But I've only put 60 miles on the thing. So we shall see.

I can't tell you how many times I scraped the GT coupe. The roadster has the same wheels and tires.

But raising and lowering was really great and you could put cheap links on it to go lower. I had it on my 09 CL63.
Scott, you do seem to be sitting high, have them check that.
He may be right. Sometimes they forget to remove the suspension shipping blocks during new car get ready. A quick look see on the lift will tell the story.
You are going to really enjoy that car especially in California where all of the other beautiful people live.
Maybe you can get a TV series like that other TV lawyer on 77 Sunset Strip.
Enjoy your new ride!! You’ve earned it for sure.
Best regards
Jerry

I do owe the board some photos and I'll try to do that this weekend.
