How long did they keep ur car, they are telling me around 5-10 days
For me it took a few months because it was the first GT R to go through this (they did a lot of regular GTs and they a bit different) and everything was done remotely. But yeah, I'd say about a week is normal.
Just put my 50% Deposit down to MBHOUSE, for my 18 GTR, parts should come in 3 weeks then drop the car for a week. Will update this thread when install is complete

The dashboard screen in this picture isn't the GTR update. It looks like the conversion mod where they were dropping in the S63 screen and not the GTR screen update. Is that just preprogramming or is your digital dashboard the S AMG screen version in this update?

No, this is the facelift digital cluster, not the old S class LCD. You have 3 different screens in your 2020 GT as well.

My Pro has this screen and a couple of others too - it's just that the disassembled photo shows a different screen and the command screen has some asian writing on it.
Maybe they are sourcing the parts from non-OEM and then coding it with OEM updates. They're just Android screens anyway so makes sense if they can source easier that way. Mercedes certainly wouldn't make this an easy access update. Moreover, any update from the STAR system would retro back to original build spec - can't get around that. That was always my biggest concern when I did the headlight update on an 18 GTC I had before this car. You just have to make sure they never flash your system during maintenance or everything stops working.

This description says the digital dash isn't included - its an optional upgrade that this upgrade supports. The dashboard in the photo where the car interior is a hot mess has the S AMG screen showing. And, the command screen has an asian writing symbol - it might work, but it doesn't give me confidence that its OEM - MB parts wouldn't deliver like that. Again, it's just android screens and the programming and OEM framework is what matters.
The issue, if you can call it one, comes down to it never being registered in the MB STAR system,. So if the car needs any kind of programming update all of this fails. For example, if you get in a collision and a headlight needs replacing, that has to be programmed to marry to the car.
So Skilly seems to think MBHouse sold you non OEM parts.
To be fair, it's just odd to see the asian character on the Command screen, no? Maybe it's done during installation, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't come from MB packaged like that.
Also, the part alone is discounted to $800 and change...here is the part number & diagram: A2059000441. Even if you "know a guy" this part from MB won't fall below $800
Also, the OEM command head unit for MY 2020 is about $3,500 so it would be interesting to see how they are doing this too. Again, they have been around for a while and have happy customers...they are clearly onto something....and DMP is now copying the same retrofit. Its just that the OEM parts math doesn't support the pricing model, even if parts were heavily discounted.
FWIW the command units are noted to be reconditioned parts even purchasing from MB, so perhaps they are doing core exchanges and updating the returns with 5.5 updates.

There isn't a lot of margin in the parts - your contact at MB might get 30% off of the parts costs, but that MSRP starting line is subjective. For example, there is a Bay Area dealer here that inflates the top line to make it sound like he's offering a deal but at his "discount" the price is nearly MSRP. The pricing above is typical of what kind of pricing you can expect if you shop it around. Take another 15% off and that would be considered better than any wholesale. You are still $11,700.00 USD. If you paid $10K they aren't making money. 3 days of shop time plus software, plus firmware updates and specialized equipment they need for coding (legit STAR System is $30K).
Just the lighting itself...I know exactly what is involved there. The retro isn't just software either (they have to run an extra power and ground wire into the circuit). Plus its not just car coding but they have to hack the lighting dongle to make it think its connecting to an MY 2020. Thats another day for sure! The bumper needs removal; wiring, coding etc.
You realize the analog dashboard will be more valuable when the GT becomes collectible, right? Every car already basically has a digital dash. Collectors will prefer the analog dials!
