Trade gts for gtr

Hey guys currently own a 16 gts but recently been offered a 18 gtr I own gts outright should I pull the trigger or not is it a big difference between the two I’ve never driven a gtr

GTR is a more exciting driving experience. If that's what you're looking for, do it. If you just cruise around the freeway, stick with the GTS.

You can gain GTR engine horsepower by a simple ECU upgrade on your GTS. Other GTR track enhancements and cosmetics are inconsequential in day to day driving.

There are differences. From the driving perspective are kind of like comparing a Turbo S against a GT2RS. Along with the aero and weight reduction though, there are also some body changes and in that comparison it's more like comparing a regular 911 with a GT3RS. The GTR is much wider at the rear, and front of the car.

Also, while you can get significantly more out of your GTS motor with a tune to match the factory GTR spec, it has been built differently so with a tune in a GTR you have more potential. The challenge becomes more around making use of the power. The 2 wheel drivetrain can't translate it to the pavement and you constantly have your traction light flash at you. Although, the lego dial in the GTR might make that kind of fun!

You only live once ,I sold my 2016 gts and got a 2020 gtr. Nothing like it , you can always mod a car but not the same as stock fast.

Not quite. The GTC/GTR have different turbos, it’s not just a “simple ECU upgrade”. They also have different 1st and 7th gear ratios.
Not to mention the wider track, rear wheel steering, and a few other changes.

I know all that. I said horsepower didn't say you'll get everything else.

Above comments correct. The rear wheel steering and additional horsepower with much wider rear tires are worth the price alone.
My last 911 gt3 had the rear wheel steering also and either tracking or fast mountain driving nothing can compare.unless you have driven a sports car with it you don't know what your missing.

to get GTR specs from your motor it is for sure a simple ECU tune. Getting the maximum out of each motor requires a different tune, but the GTR stock specs are easily in reach with a tune on a GTS.
