Ride stiffness on uprated wheels.
Hi Everyone
UK newbie here. Hope you're all well? Just purchased my GT (C190) a week ago and I'll post some pics on here soon. I wanted to ask opinions on the ride stiffness after installing 21inch wheels to the rear and 20inch wheels to the front.
Currently I have stock amg wheels on. I was already prepared for the ride stiffness and tend to drive the car in these early days in comfort mode mostly. The car does have the drivers ride package on it too. I'm very tempted to get the larger wheels but just wanted to understand if it affects the ride considerably.
Also with what I've mentioned above, would I need to change the suspension springs at all?
Thanks in return.

Which tires do you have now? Ride will be a little worse with 21s vs 20s. Also easier to damage the wheel on a pothole. Not sure if it's a great idea for UK roads.
Most people lower their car for looks when they get bigger wheels. You dont have to.

Keep in mind smaller lighter is the best for handling, big wheels are just for show and they do the opposite of smaller and lighter.

Completely agree with posts 2 and 3.
Start with your use of the car. If you plan to track it and or drive it a lot, this would be the wrong direction. However, if your driving style is "Stow and Show" as in Garage Queen to short drives once in a while, but mostly sitting and looking good, then you're going in the right direction.

I bought a used GTR, with 20/21" wheels.
It really looks much better than the OE size.
I do agree that for performance it is definitely better on what the car came from factory, as well for ride confort.
Never drove another GTR with OEM wheels, but my car is a little rough to rdrive, spalecially in the back.
Have to use a little lower air pressure, and be extremely careful with potholes and ground imperfections.
Go with plus 1 size (20/21),but do NOT sell your OEM wheels.
I wish I have the OEM wheels and tires of my car to do some track time.

Not really about showing off, just daily driving but I like to see something of beauty when I rock up to the car...

You mount rubber bands on any rim, you will have a rough ride. Especially if you add in the fact that the suspension on an AMG GT? is already tight. Hope you didn't sell your old rims...

Still have the old rims on there. Taking all of your advice on the drive quality, I wouldn't want to compromise handling. Talking of which, would there be much of a handling difference in your opinion if I went 20inch square?
