AMG GT Pricing coming soon

Been seeing this message on MBUSA website for some time now. Any idea what's going on? I heard EPA is cracking down on emissions.. Is the AMG GT line taking the hit? Are these cars still available to order? Sent an email to the local dealer. While waiting on a response I figured I'd get educated here..

Thanks

For 2021 models in the US;
  • No GTRs are being made
  • Only 9 GTCs are being made
  • There will be base GTs
  • Unknown if they will be making the Stealth Edition (base GT)
Base pricing:
  • GTC: $153K
  • GT: $118K
The options pricing is pretty similar to 2020.

Given the limited number of GTCs, you'll have to be "special" to receive an allocation. Most likely, if you don't already have one, you're not getting one. They are doing the allocations now.

doesn’t make any sense, MBUSA wouldn’t spend money to certify 2021 GTC just to sell 9 cars... it’s not a limited production car

You make a lot of sense. I'm just sharing what they told me - so take it for what it is worth.

My dealer told me that 7 were in the cue for a May build date. Mine is Not one of those. Real bummer. I placed my order last December. Nobody seems to know what really is going on. They told me that they should be producing 10x that amount of cars this time of year. This is why I started my thread "Help Me Decide How To Go" I have no idea when or even if I will get a purchase order for my 21 car. Again Real bummer.

I feel your pain. Last year, I ordered a GTR. Cancelled. Then a GTC. Was informed I will not receive an allocation. Told "maybe" on the base GT. I finally bounced and found a 2020 GTR.

I'm also located in San Diego.

I wish you better luck getting a 2021 than I had!

all cars are having problems with production. There is limited inventory of everything so my dealer friend tells me. And production is still slow due to covid and the freeze we had a few weeks ago. What is available has gone up in price due to demand. Nice well cared for 2018 911 GT3's for example are selling for more than msrp, and just a few months ago they were 10-20% below msrp.

.
Im not surprised about the GTCs - I know a guy who had his cancelled pre-covid. Can't imagine how much harder it is now. When I had my buyback issue going on - the dealership told me they couldn't even guarantee I would get a 2021 GTC roadster - so I should prob look at the current market...and that was last summer/fall.

GT market will be very interesting to see in the future - since the GTCs/GTRs were only produced for 3 years with a facelift that pretty much was for the final 2020 year. Sad end for people who were hoping to get one to their spec before the future of Merc becomes hybrid/electric. (But as a current owner, Im happy as hell lol)
