2016 GTS Starter Issue
I have had this ongoing issue for some time now on this car and am reaching out to anyone who may have run into the same thing. Every so often (no pattern to it) the button starter will not turn the car over. It will light up the instrument cluster but will not actuate the ignition. Upon putting the key into the manual socket it will then start. After that the button will work for a few times then repeats itself. After having the dealer looking at it more than once (and replacing innumerable key batteries) they cannot find the issue and also cannot replicate the non start. If anyone has run into this I would appreciate any feedback.

You may want to look through the manual, but I think I remember something about this when the key fob battery is low, it will force you to use the key socket to start the car. I’m not sure if it recharges the battery in the fob as well while it’s in the key socket or not.
I could be completely wrong here, I just could have sworn I read something in the manual about this..

This might be asking the obvious, but do you carry the fob in the same pocket as an iphone or another electronic device?
Do you have two key fobs?
Same circumstance with either key fob?

It’s a radio pairing issue that’s all. It becomes a little stubborn after a week of not starting.
Also, By pressing the lock button twice what you do is you disconnect the radio to the fob and it saves the battery but, it disconnects the radio from each. So maybe that’s what you’re experiencing.

I’ve got a 2016 GTS and I’ve noticed it can be a bit persnickety about the timing of the foot on the brake pedal and pressing the start button. If I do both steps too close to ‘simultaneously’ she won’t start. When I’m a bit more deliberate and ‘sequential’ between the brake pedal and the start button, she fires right up.

There are some issues with the antennas in these cars (I think there are three of them), the ones that are used to lock and unlock the doors as well as start the car. You may want to ask the dealer to have a look. I had the one in the drivers door replaced on my car.
