New 2018 GTR Purchased

Hello I am a proud new owner of a 2018 AMG GTR. I have been studying this vehicle since before it released. I am very happy I finally bought it I just want to know is there anything that I should be on the look out for? It’s in the Green Hell Magno color and has 11k miles on it. I am getting it immediately PPF wrapped and I am going to put downpipes on it and I’m looking into the Renntech tune. What do you guys think?

Congrats! She's a beauty. I think the tune is a great idea. I haven't use Renntech or done downpipes but tons of threads here on those. The wrap is also a great idea. If she was mine, I'd black out the chrome on those wheels. All black looks much better IMO. Enjoy driving her. Amazing beast.

Drive it for a while before you tune it. Look for the thread on the clear wrap a member posted, makes that paint look metallic.

Yes I will definitely drive for awhile first before I do the tune. And wrapping the paint in a matter clear and the carbon fiber in a gloss clear.

Congrats. Great color (same as mine!) I would also wait on downpipes and tune. 2018 sounds great and is loud. I’m not going to mod the exhaust ( I put new exhausts on 996 turbo, 996 turbo and 991 gt3). As far as tune goes, it’s already hard to put the power to the ground in 1st and 2nd gear! I would drive it for at least a few months before tuning, because u may want to leave it stock ( I tuned my 996T and 997T)

2018 AMG GTC
Congratulations, great car! I had Renntech tune on my 18' GTC and loved it. I just recently traded it in on another car, I usually keep a sports car around 3 years before getting something else.

Downpipes on that car will sound amazing, you may consider the EVM for a louder/better idle sound, but that all depending upon the owner and what you like. Love the color, nice find!

Thank you all. A lot of great ideas here, but yes I will drive it for a while in the meantime. I won’t change anything, I will just leave it stock. That yellow GTR looks amazing.

Congrats beautiful car. TBH and just my opinion I had the Renntech stage 3 HHT installed and it kind of scratched the itch and it is fun to talk about and think about but my GTR is a daily driver for me and in the 2 or so months I have yet to say wow I am so glad I got it. And TBH even if I had done the downpipes (didn't want the Cali emissions hassle) I don't think I'd have been much happier. Stock it is a VERY quick car- more than I will ever need for driving around. Is it cool knowing I have it? Sure is but knowing what I know now- I would have focused more on wringing every bit out of the stock performance because 99.9% of what I need from the car on a daily basis is already there. My partner ask me if I was glad and she is a bit of a car enthusiast and about the only thing I could tell her is- well, I like knowing that if a hit man is coming after me I have extra power. In other words, yeah it's cool but probably could have done without. The good news is the HHT isn't horribly expensive.

thank you yea I’m just gonna keep this GTR all stock for now. The PPF full wrap and tints that I got done is all I will do for the foreseeable future. Thank you.

i plan to cut off my secondary cats this week, this GTR is not loud enough, certainly not from inside the cabin...maybe I'll tune it later this year with stage 1 flash, it's actually a fast car, that 577HP seems underrated to me

here are the secondary cats, say bye bye...btw, i also had the windshield tinted 55% ( sides and back are 20%)...here in Arizona the sun is brutal, front tint is the way to go, never done it before, makes a big difference from looks and functional perspectives

How is that windshield tint going to work at night driving? Not trying to be funny, just thinking it might be hazardous at night.

works great at night, it's 55% so not that dark, I find myself using my sunglasses less and interior heat buildup during these sunny AZ days is less severe, plus it looks badass too! I know that folks who use like 20% or darker have problems at night so that's why i went with my installer's recommended 55%

that front windshield tint looks great. I have my sides and rear window tinted 20%.

Not really into yellow. But an AMG GTRs on yellow really hits the spot!

Gil,
Have you cut off those secondaries yet? Initial thoughts after doing so?
