Tracking AMG GT

For those who track their AMG GT’s, do you track them with ESP fully on? Sport mode? Off completely?

what about on the street/canyon runs?

What about the advanced "TC off, yellow-knob on" mode?

Dang it. I forgot about that. Ok, one more option to include the yellow knob mode 😂

That is just ESP fully off. The yellow knob dials in the amount of TC.

Yes, but not all GT models have it so it's a different/distinct mode.

Thanks for the poll responses and comments all. It looks like we’re split across the board. I’m curious for those who use sport handling mode. Would you say it’s significantly more tail happy than ESP on? I would like to test it during spirted driving but am a bit nervous about the consequences!

For backroads
In dry and warm weather: Sports+ with Comfort Suspension
In rain: I dont do anything other than slippery mode. Anything above sport changes the AMG dynamics and I have def slipped with even slight spirited driving on my Cup 2 tires. Slippery mode is a game changer as I wouldn't drive in the rain at all.

What about “sport handling” mode? This is when you press the ESP button once and the sport light illuminates on the dash. I believe this limits traction control but can still save you if you really screw up.

If you track even a few times a year, you probably want to go with ESC fully off. Your rear brakes will last a lot longer, since otherwise they are working anytime you get even the slightest yaw. And you are in control of the car, not the robot overlord.

ah, that’s some scary stuff I imagine. I’m not a track guy so I’d be weary of taking ESP off since I wouldn’t know how to handle it. My thought is to try out sport handling mode as it sounds like it’s a happy medium
