Ordered new downpipes for $920 shipped
Pulled triggered. crazy good 4th sale. Wanted the Kooks and found them for 1880 but they are 2-3 months out. For half the price I just hope they can take track abuse.
UltimatePD Exotic Metal. Forum Vendor
i’m not 100% which ones. they list two on website. one for $1795 and another for $1495. Said it does not have the heat wrap.
These are 304 low carbon Stainless steel. 16 gauge. Tig welded.
i not sure if i’ll cut factory ones or remove properly. can the stock ones be welded back up ?
Ill update thread when they arrive and after install.

Hi,
Looks like you made a good choice. With the array of vendors out there, even here on the forum, you have to be picky. Kooks are high quality products, too bad on the lead. I like them and have used them on other car builds.
Are they 304, or 304L? All 304 is low carbon (.08%), but 304L is .03%...still more a distinction than a difference in this application.
304 is a good choice. 316 is a little better in marine environments, but all miniscule even if you live at the ocean in N CA.
Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your build.
How are you going to use the car, once the mods are all in?
Best,
Acta

Off topic - the C6 sold? Or you still have it?
One of my first bigger builds was a C6. Went with an A&A centrifugal SC. Did the entire build and tune myself. I was just around 650hp (started with 430hp N/A) and was about ready to start spraying, heading for the 700s when I got bored and sold. It was a "drive" to say the least....
All the best on the track.

oh yeah. Sold that coupe years ago and got a C7Z. huge improvement all around. Very capable track car. within about 7 months of driving it on track in was cracking high 1:36s stock with tires and cooling mods only. overheating issues even after spending a lot on cooling mods. ultimately it caught fire and burned to the ground on its 20th track day and 11 months. Not made for serious track use. Even the ZR1 isn’t.
