RENNtech Carbon Fiber Rear Wing Lip w/End Plates

Setting aside opinions about looks and price, does anyone has an actual experience with this add-on to the GTR rear wing? Any pro and cons for track use?

Do not spend the (no doubt) large amount of $’s thinking this is going to help your lap times on track; it won’t. In fact, unless RENNtech has tested this in an actual wind tunnel and publishes the data, do ‘we’ know whether it actually helps or harms rear end grip? If it were to actually markedly increase rear end grip, how does the now unbalanced front react?

If you like the looks for the Street, then by all means have at it. But I am just an ‘n’ of 1 of course.

Great Point, Bishman. From the factory, GT Pro has the additional Rear Lip added to its Wing design (over the standard GT R wing), but has also added 2 lateral front cannards per side, slightly wider lateral "air curtains", and extended the front lip splitter.

To my knowledge, MB has not published GT Pro data, but their lead Aero specialist Dr. Gustavo Estrada did actually publish technical descriptions/data for GT R in the journal Progress in Vehicle Aerodynamics and Thermal Management:

Thanks Bishman, this is what I have suspected. No hard data to prove their statement of: …” also greatly improves airflow and rear end downforce”... which is also indicates some conflicting statement of improving airflow while also increasing downforce. These two just don’t work at the same time.
Also a very good point about upsetting the front when doing downforce changes in the rear.

Thank you MBNRG, this is a fantastic article for anyone who plan to change or modify the front splitter and/or rear wing (and drive in the aerodynamic range of >125MPH).
It was interesting to see how much effect small angle changes in the rear wing effect the rear downforce (CLR), and at the same time how the GTR's front underbody profile improve front downforce without changing the drag coefficient (Cd) vs. adding larger front splitter and flics (which will require more HP to overcome the drag increase to achieve the same top speed as the underbody profile car).

I also took the liberty to fix some of the fonts and format of the article, and attached it below:

Man that stuff is so cool and very undersold design attributes for the GTR...out of sight out of mind. I guess based on this the Pro does not have the active aero profile.

Hi Scott,

The GTR Pro also has this front aero module.

I'm not so sure about the Black Series.

Best regards

FYI, for the Pro drivers- The Gurney flap mentioned here will have to be removed to install the RennTech wing. It was designed for the GTR wing. Ironically, I think the wing looks better and move balanced on a Pro with its canards and additional front end aero. I’ve seen this wing on a Pro and it looks good.

On the OP topic I suspect, as others have said, that it was not designed to enhance downforce and consequently could harm high speed track performance a bit.

Somebody installed that and can tell me about the quality and fitment? Don't want to get faster on track, just as an optical upgrade
