The CPO is expiring on my 2018 GTR soon. I’ve read most of the articles on this site about the warranty and I’m comfortable with coverages and slightly less comfortable with costs ( cost varies between $5-$6k for 2 or 3 years of coverage including MB and third party). My question is given the build quality and repair history in this model is a warranty necessary. I’ve had two major repairs, convertible top wouldn’t close all the wat and the rear spoiler stoped working required replacement of the motor and trunk lid.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Getting an additional 3 years of MB warranty coverage would be worth the cost to me.

thanks for the response. Apparently MB will only renew for 2 years and non-renewable after that. I’d have to go with a third party warranty for 3 years

thanks again

I love warranties and have utilized them on many occasions. Compared to the price of the car, and the cost of a major or several minor repairs, the warranty seems fair to me. Also depends on how you use it. Mine is a daily driver. Peace of mind is worth it for me.

My warranty expires in August. I’m on the fence if I want to extend it. I have mixed feelings. First I’d like to do a tune. Is it worth it then? Also in the past with cars I’ve head I always end up gravitating towards local mechanics who I know and trust (several shops in this area specialize in MB and AMG and are very knowledgeable)

Unless you’re going to utilise the services of an Independent garage that you trust to work on the car post OEM new car warranty, if you’re going to tune it I doubt it’s worth it since an official dealer would probably pick up the ECU tune which would void the MB extended warranty, and probably most decent aftermarket ones also I’m guessing.

I know that Fidelity only requires a visual inspection, for major repairs, so should be perfectly safe with a tune with them, and likely most other aftermarket warranties, since they won't have a way to check for a tune, themselves.

Only had to use them once, in the 3 years I had the warranty on my GTS, and it's was super simple. My Indy shop said they were one of the easiest they had worked with, as well.

I believe it cost me around $3k for 3yr/30k miles Platinum, with $100 deductible.

Fidelity is great, we offer their polices and they have best name and reputation in the business. Their pricing can get expensive on vehicles over 30k miles... but besides that there is nothing better. Our other provider, Freedom Warranty offers the same great claims acceptance and customer service, and much better pricing on the higher milage vehicles.

Fidelity warranty
I bought a 5 year fidelity platinum warranty when I bought my GT C in June. So glad I did. Car had 18k miles, passed an independent MB PPI with flying colors. Transmission failed 1 month later. 20k to replace. My local MB dealer was great and they worked with Fidelity w/o any problems. Warranty paid for itself 4 times over already and I have 4.5 years left.

no brainer on these cars.

Do they work with independent shops?? There are a couple of shops near me that do amazing work catering to high end automobiles. AMG, Ferrari, Lamborghini. They had a Pagani two weeks ago.

Do you have a lot of miles? The factory warranty is 4yrs/50K miles. A CPO warranty would kick in another 2 years after the original expires.

Both! Rstrada in LA does something similar with Porsches and Rufs, and they refer their customer's to us to find coverage.

Their website is beautiful, it is worth taking a couple minutes to look at: https://www.rstrada.com

Thanks - what you’re saying makes sense. I’ll pull the original paperwork and double check
