Experience with Code P0760 ?

New owner and car is parked until I am back in town and can get it to the dealership but before I went out of town I ran an OBD scan and came up with the Code P0760, solenoid issue on the transmission (transaxle). A quick search here and on the web doesn’t seem to bring anything up specific to the GTs. Thought I would ask for anyone’s experience before I went to the stealership for the 50k mile service and also this code. BTW, no “lights” on the dash but have only driven it in my neighborhood and probably only got into 3rd gear.

Anything?

If you don’t have any experience with this code, does anyone have experience with transmission repairs? It seems like from my research, almost nothing is done by the dealership except fluid changes. It seems like a lot of times, it is a full replacement. If that’s the case does anyone have recommendations on how to help get it covered under the 8 year extended transmission warranty?

Barring any drivability issues, I would clear the code(s), and see if it comes back again.
If it was a previously stored code from a one time "out of tolerance" event. It may never come back.
If it comes back, then you may actually have an issue.

Good Luck

Crconsulting, thanks for the response. It is listed as a “permanent code” on my scanner which means I can’t clear it (basic OBDLink phone based scanner).

That sounds like the software is categorizing this code as a "permanent code". Typically emissions codes are given permanent status in some cars/ or code readers.
Factory STAR/SDS (XENTRY) should be able to clear that transmission code.

Its also a common ODBII fault code - the STAR diag might interpret it in more detail, but the P0760 is common amongst any car with an ODBII

It does say that if this code is thrown, it's not recommended to drive it.

That would be the best way to clear the code(s). There may be more codes his scanner isn't picking up
I would at least try a more advanced scanner.

Yeah I'm sure they recommend that to play it safe in case someone actually has a problem. Honestly, you probably would have some drivability issues.
Being that it's a new (to the owner) car with no history of how long its been since the codes have been cleared. I'd make a note of the codes and clear.
All kinds of false codes can be triggered from low voltage conditions among other things. Many cars like this sit instead of being driven regularly. I wouldn't rush out to replace the transmission just yet.

I had this and another associated code with my 2013 GLK350. I have not had this code thrown with my 2018 AMG GT.

With my GLK350, the first code was a faulty shifter console. This caused a voltage drop at the solenoid. I replaced the console (about a $600 part and VERY easy to replace), erased the codes with my Caly scanner and the codes are gone. The issue that made me scan the car was a failure to shift out of park into any gear.
