2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R
Nasty noises and feels from the steering - front and rear.

Stock 2018 GT R with a whopping 4500 miles and stock Michelin PSC2 tires.
To be fair, I don't drive the car every day. Tire pressures are 32 frt and 35 rear.
When I reverse out of a parking lot and turn the wheel to the left at full lock the car acts as though the tires are flat and are trying to jump off the wheels. Reminds me of driving a car with a full locker. The rears have now gotten into act. Haven't checked turning to the right since I don't typically cruise parking lots.
Was ist lost!
Is this Trump's fault?
Chinese balloons?
I have a B9 message on my dash which I should probably take care of at the dealer ...gulp. I don't believe the two are connected.
Any insights from the learned congregation?

Wheel hop is common with summer tires when cooler than 40F ambient temp .. particularly with sharp slow turns like in parking lots

What you are experiencing is the Ackermann Effect

This was my first thought but I was moving very slowly and have never experienced this amount of Ackerman effect. My Lotus Super Seven has tons of Ackerman but it never feels like the front tires are tripping over themselves.
Good thoughts.

that's normal for cars with active rear-axle steering. i dont know if pre-FL have such option.

"To be fair, I don't drive the car every day."

I think this quote is the key determinant to the effect you're experiencing. I have a 2018 GTC which of course also has the rear wheel steering and even when the car has been sitting for only a few days, it's cranky with me when I back out of my garage. Everything is fine once it gets moving. I now try to avoid minimum radius turns immediately after starting the car after it has been sitting.

I've never felt the crabbing effect in my GT the C63 however is notorious for it.

I think I solved the problem. While I am warming the car up I turn the wheel about 10° both ways a few times. Probably just wakes up the fluid. Anyway, when I pull out of my garage and have to make a 90° turn no noise or odd steering sensation.

I do the same 90 degree turn out of my garage 2020 gtc with pilot super sports, i dont feel any of the things you described.
i did feel exact same thing though on 2020 c63s with cup2 tires when they were worn (the inner edge was gone)

This is really useful.
I have a 2016 GT and have always felt tha the car is "slipping" when reversing and locking the steering wheel. I actually had MB have a look at it (as I have a warranty) and they found nothing wrong.
I am somewhat reassured that this isn't just a specific issue for my car!

My GTR tires almost always 'skip' a few times when starting out with a sharp turn... my Service Mgr indicated that it was my cold tires ( Cup 2 ) that needed warming up a little... Tried your advice, turned the steering left and right before moving and not one 'skip'... Brilliant !!
