Extended warranty worth it?

2016 AMG GTS with 16k miles. The big transmission issue has not come up yet which the MB extended warranty ends in 2024. But what about everything else? How reliable are these cars? I'm looking to keep the car for a very long time. Fidelity Platinum:

7 years/100k miles: $6000
6 years/85k miles: $5000

What do you think? Is it worth it?

That's not too bad and if you increase your deductible to $250, you probably would lower it further by another $500-$750
One expensive repair in 7 years and your warranty is paid for
I always buy a Fidelity warranty for peace of mind
Good Luck

If you plan to keep the car, I would absolutely go forward with the warranty, especially as we are seeing more and more transmission issues, and MB likes to ONLY cover "leaks".

Can we buy the extended MBZ warranty so long as the original 4 year 50,000 warranty has not expired? If so, how much would it be for an ultra low mileage 2020 AMG GT?

Would it be smart to purchase the warranty after the MB transmission extended warranty ends in 2024?

Unless things have changed, you can only buy fidelity warranties while you still have some warranty time left, even if it's only a few weeks. I have no idea if they will let you buy the warranty, if you only have the transmission extension, vs the original full warranty.

You can purchase a Fidelity warranty warranty at any point, if the vehicle is 12 years or newer, and under 105K miles.

That's a nice change. The last time I purchased mine, that wasn't the case, or at least not what was advertised by the couple of dealers I priced out.

Typical dealer games I'm sure, we do not do any of those, just real facts and fair pricing.

I did for my wife’s old GL and it was money very well spent since we had a turbo oil leak and power steering issues not long after the 4 years expired.

BTW Scott,

Off topic but how have you been enjoying the etron GT?

A full review, both good and bad would be appreciated; perhaps a new thread since in many ways an etron GT is a BEV competitor to the AMG GT.
