2018 AMG GT
Spoiler Removal

I am seriously considering a 2018 AMG GT S, but it comes with a fixed spoiler which I am just not fond of. I like the back end of the car stock. Is there a way to remove the fixed wing?

Thanks.

Hi,

Do you have the OEM motorized spoiler? You can remove the fixed one with care. You need all parts not just the wing assembly. If you do use all the parts then it will leak water. Do you have any photos of what is on the car right now. I have many parts for these cars including the complete motorized rear wing with all the parts already painted in Magenta black, this is paint code 183. I am in Canada and here we only had the AMG GTS for model year 2016 and 2017. In 2018 only GTC coupe, convertible and the GTR model. The base AMG GT was never available in Canada.

Hello,
i am also considering buying a 2018 GTS which has the fixed wind. Want to remove and activate the moving oem spoiler. Called marcedes and they informed me that it will cost thousands to do.
Any feedback on this?
Thanks

I don't think Mercedes would leave the complete spoiler inside there unless this is an aftermarket spoiler. If it is take a look by removing the inside plastic cover. There are two screws in the handle that you pull rear hatch down with and there are only clips. Takes about 10 minutes to do this. Ask the selling dealer to do that. It really isn't a big deal. Looks like the Edition 1 spoiler but you said it's a 2018 so that can't be.
If you do need all the parts except the top painted piece i have them all. I don't know what i would sell that for but i guess about $1000,00 dollars or a little less. I was keeping it just in case i decided to sell my car.

If there are no codes thrown while driving then the person who installed it used a module that tricks the computer to think that the spoiler has deployed when the car gets to the deployment speed which i think is at about 100 km per hour.

You can also get the assembly used on EBay.

Guys, please verify that the 2018 GTS has the wiring for the Active Rear Wing. To the best of my knowledge, the Active Rear Wing wiring was added to the 2019 GT, GTS and GTC and therefore you will not have the electrical connection for earlier models.

The Active Rear Wing was standard on all GT, S, C since 2015 in Europe and 2016 US. I am doing what flyrchris and m_coupe1999 intend to do and I just got my active assembly from a junkyard in UK. The donor was a 2015 GT S. You need both the wing and the motor assembly. Paul 100 is right, MB offered 2-3 fixed wing retrofit kits but all need the active wing and the motor assembly removed. An aftermarket business offered a “module” that tricks the car into thinking it has a working wing. The other alternative was at the dealer recoding the control module and $5K+.
Paul, by the way, do you have one of those drain grommets that sit in the motor plate? Or the part number?

Thank you.
