Unidentified tune on GTR

Hey everyone, is there any way to determine what tune a car has and from where if the dealer doesnt know?

wouldnt i need to know source of tune to be able to revert to stock if i want since i would need handheld from said tuner?

Is there still a way for me to switch back to stock without knowing where the tune is from and without any handheld? Would a dealer updating ECU overwrite the tune?

thanks

No way that I'm aware of to find that out, but a dealer updating the ECU would almost certainly overwrite the tune.

You’ll lose the tune, but to start from stock just have dealer update ECU, TCU, etc……

If you have a tech connection in service dept buy him lunch or dinner and I’m sure they can plug it in and run update while they are working on another car. If you have no connection, I’m sure you can work out a price to have done.

Then, you get the fun of starting all over and finding a good tuning partner you can work with if you want to go down that road.

thanks thats exactly what i was thinking that ill go straight to a tuned car without knowing what it felt like stock.

although car has catless downpipes too so before updating ECU etc, will have to get the stock primary cats back in. Going in reverse order here lol

I'm not sure about the feasibility of this, but maybe if you find a tuner that has stock maps for your GTR, they can pull the parameters off your car and compare them to the stock ones.

If your tuner uses HP Tuners, it’s super easy to do a tune pull and do “Comparison Log”. They’ll show you literally every single item in the tune that’s different than stock (or any other file you want to compare it to).

Bought the car with downpipes and tune but no idea which tune my car had. The throttle response however was too jumpy and jerky in the first couple of gears which I guess was expected as most tuners just jack up the low end torque.

just installed the renntech tune and its day and night difference. Can actually do city driving now without jerking in the early gears and throttle response is also not as sensitive which also makes sense since renntech maintains torque delivery like stock.

anyone wanting a tune for your GT, go with renntech, its worth it!

So I also bought my 2018 GTR with downpipes and a supposed Weistec tune.

Question for the experts: If I get pops and bangs in S+ and track does this mens that the car has a non-factory tune? Another way of asking is do the cars with stock tune have downshift pops/bangs?
