Hi all,
New here. Current owner of a 2019 911 GTS. I'm getting ready to sell it and been looking at buying a AMG GT R. Any thoughts?
Will I regret the switch? Any long term problems with the AMG?
Would appreciate any input
Tks

Hi
Welcome here , my only thought is that you will finally feel like you are driving a sport car

The GTR is really a beautiful car and amazing to drive, very unique experience which you won't find in any other car. The long hood, small cabin and rear wheel drive ....

Yet, like any other car, you might face some general reliability issues if you are unlucky with your purchase
Other than that no issues and the car is amazing

Good luck with your purchase

i think you will like the switch. IMO the porsche is boring when compared to a GT R. Porsche= not much sound, lacking looks or presence and no thrill in driving unless youre always redlining due to almost no down low torque.

with the gt r, youre getting a proper looking sports car: long hood, low and mean presence, amg rumble, dry sump, transaxle and plenty of torque at lower rpms

Thank you guys for your input. Just picked up a 2018 GTR. The GTR is so much more of a car than the 911 GTS in every way. Couldn't be happier with the switch

Congrats!
I'm in similar situation also have 911 GTS which I love and recently picked up 18 GTR.
Share your spec? Plans for mods? I wouldn't mind a bit louder thinking maybe secondary cat delete.

Congrats to you as well,
First thing I'm doing is larger infotainment screen with apple car play. I would really like to do secondary cat delete, but finding some to do it in the Bay Area might be a little difficult.
I'm also looking for a gloss black front grill. Maybe a Stage 1 tune a little later??
May I ask which car you ended up buying? I pick up mine 2 weeks ago and there were only a few 2018's at the right price available on Autorader

Ok nice, sounds like nice upgrades

I got GTR from independent dealer that sells high end cars in Vancouver. Car originally from Ontario and barely driven, car looks, feels and drives new. On a 2018 platform with buttons and little infotainment, its oddly refreshing to drive

I had two 997 turbos and a 991.2 turbo S. Also had an AMG GTS and a pair of gen 2 R8’s along the way.

I’m now on the hunt for an AMG GT R. 911’s are great because they do it all but for something that feels more like an occasion to drive, the AMG GT fits the bill. To get the same feel in a 911, you’d have to get one of their GT or RS cars but now you’re spending huge money to do so.

The AMG GT also has more presence on the road because you rarely see one and they look a bit on the wild side. A 911 is a daily sight here.
