Hey guys,

I have a 16 GTS with the alcantara seats and has the leather loop for the seat belt guide. Loop got separated from the seat. Looks like it would just snap in and got bent and snuck out of the leather loop . Figured Mercedes could have used a thicker snap!! Pisses me off when you see a premium car mfg cheap out on parts like this. Does anyone know if there is a repair for this by chance? Has anyone done it and can provide pics, link etc.

Thanks

Mine did the exact same thing 2 years ago. After trying a variety of ways to secure it, I ended up just gluing it back in place and it’s held since. A leather upholstery shop may be able to do a more professional job, however.

Looks like you could use a screw with a nice beveled washer.

Good idea but i wouldn't want a screw and washer showing on the outside of my leather loop. I would want it to look factory.. That would stick out like a sore thumb and bother the heck out of me with my OCD

You could "fake it" by cutting a matching strip of leather that's wide enough to cover the screw/washer then wrap it around the strap (obviously over the screw/washer) then contact-cement the strap (to itself) on the backside of the strap (or use a velcro-style fastener to secure the cover-strap).

Hmmm, looks like someone tried to un-snap it at some point and pulled it off (the washer is bent up on both sides). Try wiggling the bent washer back into the strap hole, then put a small block of wood against the strap and hammer it a few times with a dead blow hammer. You should be able to feel the if you got the washer to flatten out and it should hold if successful. My 2 cents, hope it helps

exactly what i was thinking of doing. And might give it a lil dab of leather glue to hold the snap in the enlarge hole in leather and hope it holds together.
