If you own a 2018–2019 Mercedes‑AMG GT, including variants like the Mercedes‑AMG GT R, and you have experienced ignition-coil related misfires,
there is a strong possibility the repair may be covered under a Mercedes-Benz extended emissions warranty that applies to certain vehicles within this model range.
When a coil begins to fail, the engine control unit may register diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) such as:
P0300 – Random / multiple cylinder misfire
P0301–P0308 – Misfire detected in specific cylinders
In many cases, drivers first notice the issue when the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates, sometimes accompanied by rough idle, hesitation under acceleration, or reduced engine performance.
Because ignition misfires can affect emissions compliance, Mercedes-Benz has issued extended coverage in some cases to address coil-related defects.
For qualifying vehicles, Mercedes-Benz has provided extended emissions warranty coverage of up to 15 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) for certain ignition-coil related failures.
This extended warranty may cover:
diagnostic testing
replacement ignition coils
associated labor required to correct the misfire condition
Owners who have previously paid out-of-pocket for ignition-coil replacement related to misfire faults may also want to review their repair records and check with an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer,
as reimbursement programs sometimes accompany emissions-related warranty extensions.
If you currently own a 2018–2019 AMG GT Coupe, GT Roadster, GT S Coupe, GT C Coupe, GT C Roadster, or GT R, and you encounter misfire codes or ignition-coil failures, either now or in the past,
whether you still own the vehicle or not, it is worthwhile to have a Mercedes dealer run your VIN through the factory service system.
This check will confirm whether your specific vehicle falls within the eligibility parameters of the extended emissions coverage.
Here is a list of possible effected models:
Bellow is a PDF of the generic letter sent by MB regarding the extended warranty.
good info, I ran into this last year, and was very happy it was still covered under warranty (same day replacement too with S class loaner)
the downside is that they only replace the one that fails instead of updating all to new parts, which means if all 4 decide to crap out at separate times, thats 4 trips to the dealer

That’s interesting, because the issue stems from a manufacturing defect, which in theory would affect all four components. So it does raise the question, why not replace all four? (Just a rhetorical question.)
