dusting??

bought a new black e series...it seems to gather a layer of dust faster than i can wash the car!

is it ok to dust the car???...will it scratch the black paint??...if not, who makes a good duster?

also...i use the eagle 1 dry-as-you-wax when washing the car...is it just me or does this product accelerate the process of collecting dust??

what's a good product to use for detailing between washes that won't scratch the paint?

thanks in advance for your help.

You'll find all kinds of opinions on this, but "dusters" on dark finishes are not a good idea IMO. Yes, the Eagle 1 product will accelerate dust attraction. Try using a good QD while drying... same concept, less dust.

Car Duster:
The best known brand (California Car Duster) it can be used to remove pollen or light dust without causing scratches by applying very little surface pressure with the duster, dusting with long strokes in one direction only. Shake the duster occasionally to ensure any particles picked up will drop out rather than come to the surface while you’re using it.

It important to use the duster only for the removal of dry surface dust, if the vehicle has oily road film, road tar, damp pollen or dust, etc the vehicle surface should be washed

Dust build-up-with low humidity conditions friction on the paint surface will cause static electricity (this is exacerbated by the use of polyester (nylon) Microfiber) resulting in dust attraction to the paint surface. Rinsing the surface with water or applying a quick detailer (QD) or use the CCD as stated above to remove dust

When the duster is first purchased it should be wrapped in newspaper to remove any excess paraffin wax, the duster should not be washed, the dirtier it gets the better it works (I've been using mine now for almost five years without it being washed)

I agree with TOGWT. I've also have a black car and have been using a California Duster on it for 3 years. As long as the car is clean, you should have no problems. Just don't use the duster in place of a wash.

You can purchase a California Duster at you local Wal-Mart or Target. I'm sure it's also available in some auto parts stores.

Ditto. I love mine. 30 seconds in the evening will really extend your freshly washed look.

I have used the California duster for years and recently purchased an OXO duster from www.autogeek.net, There is no comparison. The OXO works much better. I would highly advise it. The price is the same as the CA duster; a no brainer.
As for it scratching, if you shake it after each pass and do not use it as a scrubber you will not get any scratching. Presently I have 2 black cars and the scratchiong is non existent.

How does the Eagle 1 product "accelerate dust attraction?"

Can you use the Ca. duster on multiple cars or should each of your cars have its own duster?

You can do whatever you want with the duster. I personally only use one for both of my vehicles after I brush and shake off the dust very well before next use.

Nice Miata....

Kidding. Love the SLK55...walking to lunch the other day saw one and someone asked "what is that, a new Miata". I nearly soiled myself.

Just make sure you don't get too close to the rims and pick up any brake dust into the duster, otherwise feel free to use it on as many as you like...

Cheers.

You can try a good QD and a microfiber towel

to remove the dust from the car
