2 '02 S600

Ok guys, this is my first post to this site. My question is does the Black paint have a clearcoat? I use Zaino on my car, yes an enemy to this group, a Lexus. My mom's 2002 S600 is Black, so I want to know if I am able to use the Z2 I have, or if I have to order Z3 for non-clear coats. Only reason I am asking is because there was a debate on the clublexus board on whether there was a clear coat on Lexus black, turns out there is not. I personally think there is a clear coat on the MB black, but I would like to know for sure. Thanks for your help guys.

Wait wait wait. Can you give me the link to the clublexus discussion so I can see how you determined that it does't have a clearcoat, because it DOES.

There is a clear coat on black MB paint, Z2 or Z3 can be used on clearcoated or non clearcoated paints. Z3 can be used on either also. Z3 on non cleared paints has special ingredients to enhance the paint, however Z3 will work the same as Z2 on non clearcoated paint. Sorry if i confused u.

?? I am confused.... If Z2 works the same as Z3 on non-clearcoat paints, then what is the need for Z3???

I have a black MB, and I have been using Z2. I'm very impressed with the results.

Here's the Lexus clearcoat debate from a while back So MB has a clearcoat on their Black cars? Kewl I guess next weekend I'll Zaino the car then. Thanks for the answer guys, much appreciated.

Very interesting if it's true that the black on Lexus is non clearcoated. All modern finished should have it, perhaps those guys went through their clearcoat already? One way to find out though. Get some kind of paint cleaner or swirl remover and apply it somewhere and see if your towel picks up any black paint.

MB clearcoats. If Lexus does not, it is too save money.
