Clear Coat on C230K. Question safe to use wax?
For best results use a synthetic wax like Klasse or Zaino as they last significantly longer and hide minor swirls better. Your Turtle wax will work but will be worn away in about 2 weeks on horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, etc.).
A friend of mine at work owns a body shop, she is saying that if your car has a clear coat on it you should not use wax because it will eliminate the clear coat, and that you should use a polish instead. I waxed my car last night with turtle wax and i am praying to god this is not true.. can you guys fill me in on this?
PS: listen to Buellwinkle.
This will probably be moved to detailing...the guys there will set you straight.
turtle wax Emerald Series advanced liquid wax
100% pure carnauba blend
(on the bottle it says this)
ideal for clear coats
leaves no powdery residue
also says it contains micronized polishing agents that correct fine abrasions.
this is what the back says
Emerald Series™ contains 100% Brazilian carnauba wax to give your car a brilliant shine and long lasting Hard Shell® protection. This rare formula is ideal for exceptional performance on clear coat finishes. And, it also brings back the shine and luster to dull, neglected finishes. Micronized polishing agents correct fine abrasions that develop with exposure to environmental contaminants. Emerald Series™ provides a deep, rich paint color and helps restore the surface to show-room quality. This easy-to-use carnauba blend wipes off clean, leaving no hard-to-remove powdery residue in intricate automotive trim. Emerald Series™ contains the same Ultra Violet protective ingredients used in automotive finishes for state-of-the-art protection.
