VodC4,

Before I can answer your question, please tell me which wax you plan on using and furthermore, if you plan to do any prior surface prep other than washing (cleaner, polish, clay, etc..). Different products neccessitate slightly different methods for using them.

You wouldn't want to "prepare" something after you had waxed it. Polishing afterwards removes the wax. Some strong polishes remove some clear coat, but generally it is okay. It just depends on what you are using and how.

maybe i will try the zaino or the mothers 3-step ultimate waxing...

but the zaino is non abrasive so i suppose its better for the paint right?

so do you think its btter to use zaino ?
the mothers were abrasive ..and i believe it can hurt the clear coat?

correct meif im wrong

thanks

Zaino is not really a polish, it is a finishing product that provides the final coat of "oomph", just like mother's wax.

Either way, the reason mother's has steps, is that you must prep the surface before you use wax and likewise Zaino. Before you use Zaino, you will need to possibly use an abrasive product to clean up the paint. It depends on what condition it is in.

so r u sying i might need other product than zaino dependn on the condition of the car?

what condition r u referring to?
do you mean i need to use abrasive product when my car has lots of swirls?

but this will be the 1st time i wax and its a brand new car ....so do i still need to use abrasie products? no right?

thanks

btw what kind of wax will u recommend to me?

If it is brand new, you will not need to polish or use any abrasives.

There are many factors when choosing a wax:
- easy of use
- depth of shine
- reflectiveness
- how long you want it to last

Characterize your priorities. I would go for either S100 paste wax or Zaino. S100 scores extremely high in each category (in my mind) except for how long it lasts. Zaino scores extremely high in each category, but is a little harder to use and has less depth. It lasts far longer however.

can you elaborate on 'easy to use'

do you mean its eeasier to remove and such?
i heard zaino is the best wax out there...?

zaino, zymol, meguaire....but never heard of s100 before

so what i need to do is just wash my car and dry it and then apply the wax right?

why i dont need to polish?can i make my new car shine even more?i guess not right?i heard polishing is what makes the car shiny?

Polishes are intended to remove defects. Unless you have any, you don't need one. If you want some extra shine before you wax, you are looking for a GLAZE.
