A little ZFX help

Hey y'all,

I ordered a fresh batch of Zaino products, (esp. since my old clay bar was dried up), and I ordered the new ZFX. Thing is, I'm not sure what it's for, or how/when to use it (between coats of what and what?).

Any tips would be appreciated, since *I* will be doing this job myself, not coached by my Mrs.

I'm too lazy to type. Check out zainobros.com. They will have an explanation of, and application tips for every product as well as times it should be used.

ZFX is a quick-curing catalyst for Z2/Z5.

From the Zainobros.com website - you get a few little mixing bottles with the ZFX from the manufacturer. Pour the Z2/Z5 into that bottle, then add a few tiny *drops* of ZFX, close and shake, and use it in a hurry.

Depending on ambient air temp and humidity, it greatly increases the curing speed of the Z2/Z5, enabling you to do several coats in a day.

Here's what you do. On the small bottle that comes with the Zfx pour halfway of the Z2. Then do 4-drops of the Zfx. shake the bottle and mix well. Apply on the applicator then start waxin!

Sooo.

the contents of that little bottle are supposed to do me for TWO! coats?

I know you're supposed to put the coats on thin, but I thought thin as in butter on toast, not thin as in gold plated.

well edj, it should be like qvc jewelry, very very thin, the thnner the better, because it is a lot easier to take it off, and you save more, half the bottle is a lot for 3 coats, i do half the bottle, 4 drops of zfx, and out of that i get 3 coats, and 3 coats for the rims, and i always have left over, some ppl can do 3 coats with 1/4 the bottle

U F-ing with me?

You guys are kidding right?

I usually use a round applicator, and then draw a circle of Z-2 on the applicator, kinda like outlining a silver dollar.

I do that once or twice for every piece of body metal, depending on size (trunk, roof, fenders, doors, etc.).

Yeah, I can't get it that thin either. I have some Zaino applicators. I spray one well with Z6 and still wind up using 1/2 of those little bottles (1 oz) per coat of Z2/ZFX. I guess I'm wasteful...perhaps I just need more practice. I've got 3 coats (applied on 3 different days) and it took me 1/2 bottle per coat.

Somewhere I read that you should be able to do the QD with Z6 and use an ounce or less for the whole car. I don't seem to have any problem with that, just the Z2/ZFX.

What i like to do is put a nickel size drop on the foam applicator then dab it in 3 places on the panel, and rub. Gets it pretty thin, i can get 4-5 coats out of 1 ounce of zaino.

My thoughts after reading this thread:
a) Vishall watches QVC
b) Vishall detailed the E500 quite well
c) Vishall failed to detail the Camry with any sort of success
d) Vishall enjoys watching QVC.

LOL, jk.

no but...

I think Poch sells his watches on QVC, lol!

Hey, what's QD in regards to that earlier post? I know QD in the medical field is 4x/day dosing of medication, but don't think that is what ctouhey had in mind when he mentioned it.

Thanks!

And thanks for the tip Alboston!

QD stands for quick detailer. It is a spray that is good for removing water spots, or giving the car a quick wipe down after washing. They can be used to wipe away lust or shine up your car a little bit. Such examples are Meguiars Final Insection, Eagle One Wipe N Shine, and Zaino Z-6.
