Auto Glass Detailing

One of my major annoyances in life are the micro 'pits' that get imbedded into my front windshield from daily freeway driving. Has anyone used any products in particular that work good in "buffing" some of these pits out ? I have seen a few Glass polishes, both with low and medium abrasives ... Anyone ever try any of these ?

The problem with the pits is that dirt get's in and they stand out more. On the TV show Crank & Chrome, they recomended Bar Keepers Friend (at most markets) for really deep cleaning the windshield and it works for me. The stuffs amazing and I've used it for other stuff since. It's so strong I cleaned the brown headers on my bike and they came out silver.

Never heard of Bar Keepers Friend .... I did a Internet Search on it and found their homepage:

http://www.barkeepersfriend.com/products.htm

Looks like a powered cleanser.. How did you apply this to the windshield ? And what steps did you take ?

Crank & Chrome has some good tips !

Thanks..

I put it on a wet rag and mush the powder into a paste and scrub it on the windshield and then hose it off.

I did indeed. It works real well. Bar Keepers Friend (Looks like Ajax) does a great job of getting everything off the windshield. I used it once when I had some water spots that were a pain to get rid of on the windshield. I still wish I could rub the micro pits out of the windshield, and for that matter out of the entire front of my car..
